...With a little Tennessee Pride thrown in. Thanks.

Muchas garcias for the information - learning a lot. I'm still a little heartbroken that the 4 door pickups I saw were aftermarket builds, though. Now i'm thinking 4 door Hilux maybe. Or maybe just keep my D**K in my pants and drive what I have, huh?

I saw that, thanks for the tip. On that same site there are three other 4 door 70 series pickups - are they not built that way from the factory? Were they cut down from wagon/trooper trucks?

Yoda .... "If four doors and back seats you must, consider a 77 Series you must."

keep the taco.

So... I've been thinking about this answer I gave you. You had asked what a Rabbi would advice. It is my assumption a Rabbi would advice a sensible solution, a solution that is both practical and convenient, and maybe cost effective, something of a certain type of accessibility.

What I didn't take into account is what the heart would do. I recently bought a 77, the 80 is mostly better. I love the 80, it stops and corners well, and it's a nice comfortable car that can take you anywhere. HOWEVER, a 77 provides greater smiles per km. You can drive the taco, you can drive the 4 runner, you can drive the 80, 100, etc. But to me, no car I have owned has made me as a happy to be driving than my diesel 77. It's not a plush machine, but you'll smile more driving it.

For your kind of travel ,get the hdj81,comfortable more power than the hzj77,l have owned both ,l drove to Alaska in my turboed hzj77 towing a m101 with roof top tent,my friend was driving the hdj81,sold my hzj and now driving my hdj everywhere ....

But hzj77,the cool factor

I would tend to agree. Having owned and daily driven a LWB 70-series, and just recently purchased an HDJ81, I can say that the driving experience is much better in the 80. I am under the opinion that a properly outfitted HDJ81 is in the running for the best overland SUV available in the US. It is a much more modern experience, with decent creature comforts and good power.
