I want to extend all breathers on my LJ70. Axles, engine and transfer case are easy, but there's no obvious breather on the transmission. Google tells me that there should be two of the same model as on the t-case, but there are none. Would I be correct in assuming that this hole circled in read acts as a breather through the shifter grommet, and if I plug it and drill and tap a hole next to it I get a proper breather?

The shifter grommet has rotted away completely. Where do I source a new one / what's the part number?

Here's the transmission breather location, on the shifter just behind the rubber shifter boot.

Normally it is just the little breather cap there, I took mine out and replaced it with one of these:

Also, the shifter boot part number is 33555-60030, readily available for a few dollars.

Your picture matches what I've found on google. The thing is, on my gearbox there's nothing there.

Thanks!

That's really odd. I wonder if earlier versions just breathed through the shift boot? Regardless, I don't see any reason why you couldn't drill a hole there and install your own.
