I am in the business so it is readily accesible to me, but the cost to my company is around $30 a Lb.

Just got my AC fixed today: Cruiser mechanic next door to my shop replaced all the O-rings & gaskets & evacuated the system. It held vacuum for 4 hours, so he added about 1 oz of oil & 2 6oz cans of HC-12a. Holds 30 degrees at idle, & hit 21 on the street where it was about 85.

HC-12a is $8/can from foxtoolsupply.com

If you read further you'll notice "Note that the Clean Air Act does not regulate the use of any of these hydrocarbon refrigerants when they are used as replacements for non-ozone-depleting chemicals such as HFC-134a."

I don't know if I need a new thread for this or what. My rig had been converted to r134 by the PO. The a/c worked fine last year, it would freeze you out on the highway. Now, the compressor won't kick on, so I am assuming all my freon has leaked out. Can I just refill with refrigerant and keep topping off or am I looking at an A/C overhaul? I have no idea where to begin on this problem.

tcb: before you do anything check the post in another thread re: all the diagnostics i am going to have to complete to be certain my system is working properly. it includes determining if you have the proper amount of refrigerant in the system by looking at how it acts thru the sight glass.

also, check to make sure your magnetic clutch on your compressor is not bad by jumping it with a wire directly to the positive post on your battery when your engine is running, A/C on and rpm's up there a little...

You wouldn't happen to have a link to that thread, would you? There have been so many A/C threads lately. Is that the title of the thread that you posted in your response? Search turns up nothing for that phrase.
