$1800... is that about right?

I am looking to buy a 2000ish 100, and it seems a lot have not had this done. I'm trying to budget and bargain accordingly if I have to have it done.

he said that included front seals, water pump, timing belt etc.

Discount OEM parts will run you $400ish (use beno or CruiserDan from this board) with waterpump and all the goods. Then it's all labor, which varies from $500 for independent shops to over $1k for dealerships.

ha, this was an independent I spoke too...

Any recommendations in the DFW area?

see above :) I'm just going off what that dude said, maybe there was a reason he wanted to charge $1800

I normally buy the parts and just pay for labor. The local T Dealer gives me a 20% discount. Just ask. The labor if I recall was somewhere in the range of $850.00 No cam seals. This is all being done by a local repair shop that specializes in Toyota.

Mine was $1747 out the door The Wednesday before last, and it too included the cam seals. The tech said that their replacement was now Toyota recommended. Everything that I have seen people mention replacing was replaced. This was done at a Toyota dealership. So I don't really think $1800 seems that far out of line, but you might as well just haul it into Toyota.

I have had good luck with Pratt's Automotive which is a Lexus indy shop in Benbrook right of Loop 820. The owner/mechanic was the head mechanic at Sewell Lexus for many years before opening his shop. They even have an old Lexus ES loan car. Just curious, which shop gave you the quote?

Had mine done at Atlanta Toyota - all seals, belts (including serp), tentioners, idlers and water pump for $1100.

Hey Petro,
I have used Pratt automotive, they are great, I just got a qoute for my GX470 which needs the same items for $980 parts and labor.

Timing belt
Serpentine belt
H2O pump / with gasket
Thermostat / with gasket
Drain block / flush radiator
Idler pulleys
Crank Seal
Cam seal x2

Here is thier info:
Pratt Automotive
817-249-0800

Then you can come in and do the fluid / filter changes for the rest of the 90K service, well except a trans flush which is $159 at Freeman Toyota. Hope this helps

Ok great, thanks so much. I will definitely give them a call.

Got my 90K parts from CDan a couple of months ago...t-belt, serp belt, radiator hoses, thermostat, No1 & No2 idler pulleys (seals in there can leak), t-belt tensioner, water pump & 2 O-rings, then the stuff for the front wheel bearings (inner oil seal, lock washer, flange gasket), diff & t-case gaskets....~$500+shipping. Retail at the dealer is around $750. Many shops only replace the t-belt and not the idler pulleys or water pump, which is how they can only charge $400. If they quote you a ridiculously low price, make sure they are using OEM parts and ask them to keep the used parts (this way you know they had to put something in there).

i just got a quote for 1700 from my dealership, including a rear brake job and oil change with synthetic. they said that included replacing the waterpump, betls, tensioners, pulleys, seals and hoses.
