I noticed the exact same hammer, part number the same and all with a 20 bid on it.

Why is this one worth 400 to someone but not the other?

Or did someone here see it and think, "wow I have the same hammer" and listed it up to steal a few bids.

nearly identical wording so i will bet that guy saw the other auction and thought he had hit paydirt in his basement

No idea, this one was rust free and had a nice handle even and went for 20 Auto Body Hammer Proto 1428 w/ Custom Handle Nice!! - eBay (item 150542875707 end time Jan-08-11 01:14:37 PST)

I don't see any mention of a rodding great owning it or anything, someone just really wants that hammer.

That has a factory two-tone handle w/ matching numbers .
It is easily worth $380 more than a regular body hammer.

you can just weld a large nut on any old adjustable wrench though .

With $400 one can buy quite a few Snap-on hammers - 4 or 5 anyway - and you can actually use them.
