You guys are behind the times about the Pro golfer formerly known as Tiger Woods. He has changed his name to Cheetah.

Cheetah...funny! Did you happen to see BVD's little words of wisdom about ol'cheetah in this weeks Reno News & Review? I'd like to be Tiger's, er cheetah's, publicist. What do you suppose Cheetah is paying him to make all those bad decisions?!

All he had to do was come clean like David Letterman did. John Daly? Everybody's human. He could have said he was a sex-aholic and was getting treatment and consoling for it and he was truly sorry...blah blah blah; His fans would have forgiven him but instead he just had to...well you know the saying: 'If you're in a hole...a deeper hole feels better so just keep dig'n...'.

I guess thats the one nice thing about not watching tv , I pretty much out of the loop on things like this.

Ok I will go back under my rock.....

Seriously!
NOW he wants to "work" on his marriage!?!?!?!
Ive gotta say, I had lost a LOT of respect for him after this. Its one thing if you dont love your wife anymore, but GET A DIVORCE! How humiliated SHE must feel about all this.

I feel badly for her.

I'm with you, but it has been everywhere and on everything. A glowing example of why I don't watch, support or care about any Sports star. They are losers.

So just FY EYE!

I had a friggin STEEL CHIP in my eye. NOT pink eye.
The lil woman saw an additional TWINKLE in my eye that SHOULDNT have been there. I talked to my dad (who has MANY YEARS in the tool and die industry) and he told me "You gotta get that thing outta there!"
So I went BACK to the urgent care and they did a thorough eye exam...Why they didnt do that in the first place...I donno.

Feels much better now!

BTW, I WAS wearing safety glasses!!!!!!!!!
This just managed to sneak around the frame!

K

This is why they ask if you weld before an MRI. No fun having a bit of metal zip around in your eye goo. If they forget to ask, tell them you rub metal chips in your eye for fun.

Thats why I dont wear safety glasses .........

I had the same thing happen with a wood splinter about a year ago. It was embedded in the inside of my eyelid, so my eye kept getting redder and redder. After a few months I finally see the doc, at first he couldn't figure it out because he didn't see anything in my eye. Then he turned my eyelid inside out, bingo, open sore that I had no idea about.
Safety glasses are important.
So is not taking them off to rub the sweat out of your eyes with your nasty sawdust or filing covered sleeve.

Ill just have to get goggles and or a face shield for grinding.
That is when this happens for the most part. The debris spinnin off the wheel forces crap around the glasses and into my eye. At least that is how this happened.
FIRST time, I wasnt wearing any, so I deserved it...

Progressively learning...

I have gotten to the point that I use an old set of motorcyle goggles from my ATV days while grinding. Cause like you, I have had stuff get by regular safety glasses. Luckily nothing other than irratation has happened.

Gotta save the eyes...

And while we're now on the subject of safety...taking care of lungs is also at the top of my list. I've got several different filters and/or filtration masks I used depending on the job at hand.

For grinding it saves a TON o'metal and sand/grind disk dust from the snozzola and further downstream ;). I even wear a special mask when welding bigger projects to help...

And good hearing protectors are a must too. Gotta save the music!

Of course when I was young and dumber (relative K?!) I was too cool for dust masks, etc. I can't imagine how many pounds of wood dust from the sander/table saw/router or dry wall dust  I ingested before I figured out I'd live beyond 30  and better take care.

Dumbass. What do I tell you every time you weld something for me and pick up the grinder???
Eye and ear protection!!!!!
Take it from the half deaf, half blind guy.

A dust mask wouldn't hurt either.

Like my Dad said when he was dying from lung cancer, "If I'd known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself."

Is there such a thing as a scratch resistant face shield? I've got a couple of plastic shields from Home Depot, and they are so scratched up that the glare/haze is as bright as the work...

Some of the ones from Harbor Freight have a replaceable shield. Same with the ones from Grainger. The shield are about half the cost of the whole unit.

I am very good about the eyes and ears, not so good about the lungs. I really need a good mask. What one(s) do you recommend? My lungs are full from todays project and I didn't even grind that much. Really gotta do something about that.

Here is a quick tip to keep pretty much any plastic shield lasting longer. Good ole' fashioned Lemon Pledge furniture polish. Works wonders on plastic shields, be it goggles, motorcycle face and windshields, even soft top windows. Use a micro fiber cloth or even a worn out t-shirt (no logos). Spray it on, and polish it off. You will be surprised at how clear it will make them. It won't get rid of the deep gouges, but for the regular scratches and scuffs, it works wonders. Works as good as all of the fancy "plastic polishes" that cost three times as much. I have tried several and Pledge is it for the win.:bounce:

For welding I use these: 3M 8293 P100 Particulate Respirator Mask
For general shop dust I use these: 3M 9211 N95 Particulate Respirator Mask (10 pack)
(they fit me better)
For heavier duty dust applications (when the router/tablesaw/etc are running especially cutting any 'particle' board or oak where dust is especially toxic: 3M 5101 Organic Vapor Half-Face Respirator Gas Mask

And for spray painting (rattle can type stuff only) I add the organic filter cartridges to the above.
