I had a viar 400 in my 4runner (full duty cycle), which was a good thing, because under a load, it took a while to air up 35's. That was with a tank and everything. Electrics work, but short of an Oasis, none of them will even remotely keep up with an engine driven compressor.

My buddy had a sanden on his jeep. He could air up his 37's and have one to two of my 35's aired up, while I was airing up the other tires.

Air tanks in an OBA system are only good for that initial blast of air, once the pressure drops, you are running off of the compressor. I will have a tank in my system.

I have ran all of the systems, from my ARB compressor, Viar, Tsunami's, CO2 and had friends with Yorks/Sandens. Like most things, everything has its pros/cons, I just think that engine driven compressors have the least amount of cons. :bounce:

A pressure tank is useful for running air tools, particularly impact tools that use a large CFM for a short time. As you said it is serves no purpose airing up tires.

I have to agree that an engine driven compressor is the best option overall where it is practical.

So how are you driving the pump on your 80? Pictures would be nice, maybe even do a write up?

Yeah, do a write up!!! People put Yorks on all sorts of things...I'm sure there are ones on 80's, but I haven't seen one....

For a while, you could buy a bracket kit for 93-97 FZJ80's. They are no longer being made, so I am making my own. SpressoDan bought one of the water pump pulleys to see if it would fit on the 100, it didn't, so I bought it from him. That was almost a year ago. :D

As I get more stuff, and get closer, I will do a write up. Just don't expect anything fast. I am working on it slowly.

SOOOOO, did you trade in the LX for it?
Looks nice!

Very nice Ken.

So how about some details, year, mileage, etc.

I really like those. I think with a Four Wheel Camper on that back, it would be the bomb diggity. I guess you can get 35's on there with little to no effort.

How does it ride? I have heard both: real hard and well like a truck.

Interesting to watch the progress.

Let's see...
05 w/ leather power nav 39k on the clock, 34 gal tank (I might go aftermarket and get larger) 5.7 hemi, 4.56's , 1 ton rear axel shaft's w/LSD and locker, 165-Amp alternator factory 12k warn winch, and a whole host of Power Wagon off road goodies.

P.O. installed headers and elect. cut out shhh....... Tonneau cover and spray bed liner:clap:

It had a flowmaster on it that was AWEFUL! :hillbilly: but it has a nice reasonable unit on it now.:)

It has 35's on it currently (Toyo mt's) the are perfect but rub the FCA's on full lock. I will go to AT's (35's) when I figure what ones????

It has a special suspension and I think it rides great, firmer than my 80 and more controlled. I would definitely not say hard , I keep trying to hit RR crossings and the like hard just waiting for it to flail but no dice.............

When they came out with those a few years back, I thought it was a pretty sweet rig, and I am def not a Dodge guy.

I have also heard they "well, rode like a truck", which, what can you expect??

Man Im sooo far from a dodge guy its crazy!
Like I said above it rides great ,the springs are unique only for the PW but there is a trade off.... less towing cap.

Sounds like a nice one. I think they ruined the '10 models by only offering them in the crew cab version. The extended cab like yours is perfect. Good to hear about the ride. Of course once you stick a camper on the back, it should ride even better. :bounce:
