For those here who don't know, the 40 is back on the road. 2,500 miles on it so far. I drove it up to Idaho Springs so that I could drive it for a month or two to finish some of the last details and work the bugs out of it.

So far, so good. (and 31mpg) Dad flew up to Denver so that he could take the 40 to the Rising Sun Rally and do the 40's Only Run the day after.

Here's a video I thought some of you might dig (especially those of you who have helped lift heavy parts on this truck).

We'll probably drive it back to New Mexico in early October or so (depends on schedule mostly) and I'm sure Dad will make a point to make it to a meeting or two to show it off.

And of course, with this little project done, I can start tinkering with my 45 a bit more...:clap::clap:

very sweet video and a big congrats dude! Nice job.

Nice video! It looks like the truck turned out great. My only complaint - with the soundtrack, I couldn't hear the diesel humming along down the road.

Nice job, Dan. It's a really nice build.

I'm still trying to get the camera to accurately record the diesel. It's good at recording just about every sound but that apparently. Not sure what the solution is yet.

How about a mic used for string instruments? Just clip to where you want to record and run the lead.

Like the shot of the undercarriage. Ohh...after our phone conversation I went out and cleaned the axle breathers. Yep, the front was stuck. Cleaned it with brake fluid and know it works.

Thanks for the video and all your help.

No external mic for the GoPro camera (at least not that I'm aware of). I'll probably try mounting it kind of close to the exhaust and see how that does. A lot of the problem is that the sounds of the camera mount moving (and it's tight, as you can see) are picked up clearly over the background noise.

Glad you guys enjoyed the video! The truck has indeed turned out well. I'm really, really enjoying driving it around for the month.

well done dan! I really dig the go pros after watching guys like you and steve do the videos... Just not sure I'd actually chew through all the video and compress it to something so watchable... Kudos.
Oh yeah, and badass 40 build of course... Great to see it being enjoyed finally and out of the shop.
