Anyone Ever use one of these? QuickOilDrainValve.com - the best way to change oil

I was thinking about ordering one for my 2H. seems like it would make oil changes a lot faster and easier!

What size is the oil plug on a 1989 HJ60 with a 2H?

Just how short of time are you:D I take my plug out and go do something else for 10 minutes:beer::beer: and when I come back its done:D

And its still not going to drain any faster with that little hole on the valve.

The main problem I would have with one of these in a 4wd is the chance of it being smashed off on a trail or a rock turning the tap on.Then the oil will drain out REAL quick;)

As for wearing out the threads,my cruiser's 1HZ engines are 14 and 12 years old and both threads in the sump are fine from careful use.

more interested in keeping things clean than saving time =] I usually poke a hole in the oil filter and let it drain over night:cool:

Seems you can slip a hose over the nipple on the end of the valve and then drain the oil right into containers!

I was thinking about the clearance issue have to take a look under see if that might be a problem.

is the drain plug size 12mm X 1.25 threads?

LOL, Too funny. Wonder how fast it drains when you knock it off on a rock.

I get the oil nice and hot and it runs out like water into a an oil container with a spout on it. I then stand it vertically over a drum and let it drain into there before going to the recycling centre.
You get more of the thick stuff out when its hot;)

I dont know what size they are,its probably in the FSM somewhere .

Another reason I can see this being unhelpful on a diesel engine is the soot sitting in the valve and blocking it.

But its your choice, post up some pics if you get one.

Check out the one Western Star trucks sells. I think it requires you to drop the pan to fit it. It is similar to a air line connector and sits alot closer to the pan. I thought about it for 5 min and decided it wasn't worth the hassel and as Rosco refered to - the risk. The one you have here sticks out a long way and could be snapped off easily.

Goodbye drain plug - The Engine Oil Drain Valve simplifies the oil change like never before. The only thing you do to drain the oil is turn the valve's lever 90 degrees. Your hands never touch the oil, you avoid the risk of stripping the oil pan threads, and valve's double seals make it leak proof. - "Handyman Magazine"

Come on! Is this statement from a Handyman magazine??? How handy are you if you need to have oilchange simplified? Btw what is it about an oilchange that can be a fiddle and has the greatest potential of being a mess? NOT the drainplug, the filter!

Just my POV though....

Great inventions. I had one on my Duramax and loved it! I got the one with the nipple and attached a short hose to keep the oil off the skid plate.

X2, especially when you have two of them which sit near horizontal and are 3 cm above the starter. Time to get some sheet metal and build a drip tray with a drain.

 as long as they don't get ripped off wheeling....

Hey... the filter on my HDJ81 sits near the top of the motor with the threads facing down at about a 45 degree angle.... I have yet to not smell burnt oil for 2 or 3 days after a change!!! The plug is minor, probably the cleanest part of the truck!!

I have seen external kits (mainly on drag cars) that allow you to run 2 filters and place them wherever you want. Anyone seen one of these kits?? or tried one???

My BJ73 had one of these already fitted when I bought it. It works just as advertised, surprisingly nice not to get oil all over your hands when you change it. It won't open accidentally as it requires quite a bit of leverage to lift the handle enough to turn it. Given the drain plug's position (at least on mine) I would think you'd have to be really unlucky to have it ripped off while wheeling.

The Amsoil Bypass kit that works on the 1HDT is the BMK-11 model. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/bf.aspx And here is the installation for a 1HDT for the bypass kit: AMSOIL By-Pass Filtration System on 1HDT Turbo Engine | HDJ81

I don't know about a re-location kit by Amsoil that will fit but I will ask them because the outside diameter of the filter is 105 - 106mm and the thread is M24 x 1.5. This should be enough info for them to cross reference.

Thanks CruiserGord. Interesting stuff there.

But I'm amazed that they showed such poor welding on that filter-mounting bracket. (Hard to imagine how it could be worse.)

If I wanted people to "believe in" my product I wouldn't show something as bad as that in connection with it!
