I’m looking to get a set of the tundra TRD wheels with some KO2’s to run a few times a year on larger trips... the wife isn’t willing to give up her 21’s full time yet.
My question is about what issues are there switching between two tire packages. Besides it just being a pain in the ass to switch and not having sensors in one of the sets, are there any other issues with switching between two sets?

This is for a 2021 LX.

Because the off road setup would only be used for off-road trips, I’m considering going with M/T’s. Can anyone comment on road noise with M/T’s on an LX. I had M/T’s on an FJ Cruiser and swore I’d never put them on again they were so loud.

Use cloned sensors to TRDs so you don’t have to worry about error codes when they are on the truck.
Cool, I was curious if that was an option. Any other issues switching between to sets of tires?

Yes - it's definitely a thing. I'm going to do the same thing here on my LC, but TRDs + highway Michelin Latitude Tour HPs for "summer" and stock 18" + some kind of winter tire (maybe Nokian R3, Michelin X-Ice...not sure yet). No big issues, other than storing the wheels & tires that are off the truck, which can cause spouse issues if they get in her way. Can't comment on M/Ts - I'm sure others will be along in a moment who can.

From my research so far: make sure that the second set of TPMS sensors will work with your LX, as the sensors are apparently quite specific to the model and year (even within a particular year). If the retailer / seller has the ability to confirm compatibility by your VIN, that's probably a good sign. If its a discount seller, make sure they have a return policy that will save you if the sensors won't talk to your LX, as at least one member here got screwed with bad "will fit / will connect / will work" information from his retailer, who was not an authorized reseller.

There's also a multi-tier way to go with your second set of TPMS - OEM / parts counter TPMS, "same-as" but not sourced from the parts counter (maybe Pacific Industries branded, maybe Denso or something else), and straight up aftermarket. I haven't gone far enough down the rabbit hole on that to have any kind of advice yet.

If you think MT is too loud than you’re right. They aren’t quieter now. If you get a hybrid you could probably live with the noise. There are several aggressive hybrids out now, take a gander at the new Baja Boss AT.

So the LX does not have the feature to store 2 sets of tire sensors? Well that's disappointing. My '07 ES350 had that feature, it was really easy to swap tires, simple switch in the glove box.

Just have second set cloned to first and Voila no switch needed. Just think of the hours you will save not pushing that switch.

Nope, this was another feature removed from the 100-200 by Toyota.
