I have my winch installed and it works fine but the instruction manual said if it is mounted feet forward, as mine is, you need to remove the sealant on the bottom drain hole and put on the top. I am not sure what this means exactly. When the winch is sitting with its feet down I see whare thare is a small amount of clear silicone in a small opening near the bottom. If this is what they are refering to when instructed to remove if mounted feet forward, then that part I understand. However, I don't see another opening or drain towards the top in which I should apply new sealant. Does anyone know what they are talking about and is it necessary to do it anyway?

Thanks,
Mark

the drain holes are at 6 oclock and 90 oclock dependent on feet down or feet forward, most of ours are feet forward mount, and we clear both drain holes and leave them open, or seal thew motor and drilla hole in the end plate and fit a breather to it.

So is that small amount of clear silicone from the factory what they are talking about removing? I guess that they provide the necessary drain holes from the factoryfor the feet down mounting considered as normal, so there would be no additional drains required. I just don't see where the top hole or opening is located where I am to add the sealant.. Are these drains needed for just normal outdoor exposure like rain or washing ect.?
