Question on Escape Gear seat covers for an HZJ77

Can someone confirm that if I order the seat covers for a 76 series they will fit my 77 series? I thought that was the series i saw to order on another thread for a 77?

I ordered front and back covers for my 77 and then they required pictures of my seats. After receiving the pictures I get the following message:

“Thank you for sending this through. I am afraid we cannot confirm the part number for this order. This is not TLC20.we cannot seem to identify these seats either. Would you be able to ascertain more info from us (I.E pictures of the exterior of the vehicle or finding out from the customer what seats those are)

Could you send us some photos of the exterior of your vehicle? “

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Aren’t 77 seats more of a “luxury “ type? I don’t believe that the 76 seats came in a “luxury “ style seats therefore maybe the confusion I know 78 seats are different than the BJ70 Canadian spec ones. Different shapes between the two styles?

I had the escape gear covers on my HZJ77 seats before I took out the original front seats and installed scheel-mann seats. Just like you are experiencing, Escape Gear didn't want to sell me the covers and canceled my direct order to them and I ended up having to get them through Equipt1.

The covers will work fine but they are a little tighter due to the shape of the ZX lumbar seats. Backseat is perfect fit. Headrests didn't work and they made me custom size headrests.

I sold my front seat escape gear covers to @Guyute I think. He can chime in on the fit some more and maybe provide photos.

That helps me tremendously. I also have ordered through Equipt1 but the manufacturer is requiring them to send pictures too I guess. Im fine to go without headrest covers I suppose. Maybe I can persuade them to go through with it…

Asking Escape Gear directly doesn't seem to get good results. They seem more determined to drive you away as a customer rather than to sell you something.

When I made my initial order with them, I just made the order online and expected them to ship it to me and that was it. No, they wanted pictures after I made my online order and then they just canceled my order no further questions asked.

Plan B, I contacted Equipt1. I think it was Kristen or Paul May and they contacted Escape Gear and there was a lot of effort on their part to make them send me the damn covers. They are super nice covers but it is like pulling teeth to get a set.

Escape Gear doesn't seem to sell anything for JDM market or rather they don't market their products for JDM land cruisers.

I have only seen one KZJ78 prado in person and it had some kind of leather or "pleather" aftermarket seat covers so I couldn't tell if they are the same seats as the ZX HZJ77 or not.

Have FJ73Texas' front covers in a '97 73 ZX. Also purchased a full set through Equipt for a '93 77 ZX and they asked for pictures with measurements as well. The headrests were modified to fit better from my understanding. Still not perfect but they do the job. Started tight but have broken in nice on good condition ZX seats. As others have said the rear fits extremely well.

Oh. Also ordered their dash pad/cover for the 73 and they wanted pictures with a tape measurement of that as well.

I had good luck with Escape gear recently . However I will say you need to be persistent with emails and stay on top of it. I have a JDM 1997 HZJ fire truck that made it even more difficult. I had some help from others who had ordered from them for the fire truck in the past that was very helpful. I did receive the wrong headrests but it’s a big deal to me. I’ll reach and get that handled.

The person I dealt with was Sam.

FYI, I’m extremely happy with the fit, look and style. The quality is second to none in my opinion.

I also ordered a set for my FJ45LPB as well.
