Hey guys,

I was installing the pro lift kit for my GX470 and was able to remove the stock strut.

When I went to install the Eibach strut and spring, I started to swap over my stock top hat to mount onto the Eibach system but found that my Autozone spring compressor tool wasnt going to work when installing the top hat; the spring would compress not allowing enough room for the tool to be removed. Infuriating.

I assume my only other option is to go to a shop to have them do the swap? Is there another spring compressor tool I can look for? Maybe a shop is just a better choice overall?

Thanks for your input!

I bought my Eibach kit with fronts assembled, worth the extra $130 for me.
There is a “no spring compressor” method, plenty of YouTube videos on this. I never watched one but seen it referenced quite a bit. Probably some members here have done this and will offer advice.

its works great. In fact I like it even better than using a spring compressor. I found a youtube video for tacoma, watch a couple and went for it, piece of cake. Only difference from the videos for tacomas and the GX seemed to be on the GX you have to unbolt and drop the sway bar and take out the nut for the brake line bracket.
