I've got a '67 40 but the frame reads it as being closer to a 64-65. Question is I'm trying to find the soft brake lines that go from frame to axle on the front. My hard lines appear to be 9mm but my junction at the drum backing plate is 10mm. Does anyone know where I might find a couple of these? I tried cruiserparts.net. They have $50 of my money and I don't have any lines. Ordered them a month ago.

Thanks for any leads guys.

Jason

sounds like some things have been replaced?

how extensive are your brake repairs/upgrades?

are disc brakes or power brakes or even dual circuits soon to be a possibility?

without seeing your set-up or knowing exactly what you have there, my suggestion to you would be to get rid of everything 9mm

I checked with Tireguy87, and it looks like this 40 was build November or December '65, most likely as a '66 model, and may have sat for 6 to 12 months before being sold and titled as a '67....you can check here; Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Land Cruiser Parts & Accessories - FJ40 Frame Numbers

I'll agree with Sean...without seeing it , we have no idea what kind of mess you might have on your hands, and can not give you advice on what to do. I can tell you that I would not drive the 40 until I got it sorted out. I already suggested Mark as he knows these old 40s very well, and should be able to get you what you need to make it safe, OR, if you are not a purist, this might be time a good time for a brake master and booster upgrade, and a disc brake front axle up front...either way, you will need help, and might consider getting some local club members to give you a hand sort things out

I bought the same parts from cruiserparts.net a while back for my restoration. They were one short so one of them was put on back order the other 2 I got right away. Nothing on my reciept mentioned that a back order was done and I was not charged for it. After a good long while I reordered the one I was missing. They told me it would be a few days before they got them in but as sonn as they did they would ship it out. All went well. I even got the one I didn't know was on back order. So I ended up with an extra. They offered to take it back but I kept it. Anyway you'll get it some day just not the day you want it.

SOR (Specter Off Road) lists only one brake up until 7/70. No longer available OEM. But they do show a after market one. If yours hasn't modified it should work.

Here's some pics of the front brake stuff. It appears I have 9mm hard lines and 10mm junctions at the drum backing plate.

These lines and junction are off the passenger side front and appear to be stock. It's the bronze colored junction I've seen on others pictures.

65 front lines

Here is a shot of the front lines on my 65. if you need better detail let me know. As you can see the body is off so they are easy to get to. By the way I haven't replaced my soft lines yet, that's why they look so ratty.
