I bought my 40 out of your fine state earlier this year, and would like to get in contact with the guy that did the restoration, (he sold it to the guy I bought it from). It looks like a Oregon title history report won't have previous owner info on it, and due to the non 17 digit VIN, the usual suspects in vehicle history reports are of no use. The guy I bought it from was very helpful with his history, but when I asked for the previous owner's info, he went radio silent. Can any of you send some advice my way? Thx in advance...

Any idea on the part of the state the resto was done or how long ago it was done?

Well the guy I bought it from lives in Klackamas, and it looks like he had owned it since 12/2005, so it would have had to be before then.

If you haven't already, you may try Cascade Cruisers, they are more local to that region. You can try PM'n CreeperSleeper.

I not sure about any resto place's down here, but others might.

Well, Cascade is a separate forum, and moderates registrations. I registered a couple of weeks back, but never got the okay, as far as I know. I'll keep that name in mind, though, so thanks! From what the PO told me, the guy that did the resto isn't a shop, but rather a regular Joe that did a pretty damn nice job!

Ya, Creeper can take care of the reg and maybe know someone up there to contact.

Does your rig look essentially the same as when your mystery restorer had it? (same color, tires, lift etc.) In other words could you use it's picture and post it up on boards where the original hammerhead would recognize it? Just a thought. Maybe he might chime in unexpectedly. Radio Silence huh? Sounds like a good mystery. ;)

I sent a PM to Creeper yesterday, so hopefully he can help out. If not, at least it was cool looking at those personalized wheels he has!

mobydick - I suspect, from the story told by the PO, that the guy that did the restore may not be a forum guy. In fact, the PO had never heard of MUD until I brought it up. This place is a great source of info and gathering of like minds, but I suspect there are a fair amount of LC folks that don't know about it.

The story that the PO told me about the truck is that the guy who restored it was involved in a terrible accident that happened at a motocross track, where he was landed upon by a bike that had gone astray. Goofed him up pretty bad, and he was laid up for a couple of years, which was when he did the resto. (I do have some pics of the work being done.) The PO said that the guy sold it because he and his wife were going to restore a late 60s Camaro, and that they were crying in the driveway when he drove it away. Except for the tears, because I'm a tough guy, (my wife is laughing in the background here...), I have felt the same about some of the vehicles I have had in the past, and wanted to get in touch with them, to let them know it's being well taken care of, and to maybe pick his brain about the work he and his wife did. Tracking them down is a bit tricky, but if its meant to be, it'll happen.

Sorry about not letting you register! Try again and I'll let you through. We get about 20 spammers trying to get in a day so if your IP doesn't pass a backlist check, I don't even bother looking into it more...

 Need more for your yard ;)

Are you suggesting he's a "cruiser gardener" ? :p Or is that a scrap/junkyard? HMmm....? What's wrong with a few cruisers here and there? :)

Kief
don't let them harass you like that
they haven't seen what my son Bobby's yard looks like :)

BTW, I was wondering If JmDaniel was having any luck tracking down that guy?
