Question: a late model Toyota (1999 Land Cruiser) power port is 12 volt, but how many amps?

I ask because I am having trouble with 12 volt USB adapters not working. Wondering if the 12v port is too "hot" (i.e. amps too high) and "toasting" these USB adapters ?

Thanks!

If you mean how many amps is it rated for:
is there a fuse for it in the box? if so, check that.
If it's a built-in fuse, check the specs of the part.
But I'm guessing about 10A if it's a port up front that could be used for a lighter.

Anyway, there is no such thing as a source/port that has "amps too high". It will give whatever the load sucks out. It's not like it's forcing amps out into an adapter to toast it.

Okay, thanks e9999.

Anyone have a recommendation for a quality 12 volt USB adapter?

I got a little panel from Blue Sea. Has 2 USB ports, a voltmeter, and whatever the cigarette lighter plug is called. A bit involved to install, but worth it in the long run.
