Ok, I know this is a noob question. I warned you all in my first post that I don't know much about cars, but I'm trying to learn.

How do I find the production date of my FJ40? Also, how do I tell if my motor is a F, 2F, or 3F? and what does that mean?

Thanks for being patient with me,
papa

I found the production date...

Ok, scratch the question about the production date, I just found it I think. Sept 1970.

However, I still am wondering how I tell if the motor is a F, 2F, or 3F?

Thanks,
papa

on the passenger side of the engine block towards the back near the start should be a flat area with a bunch of numbers on it, it it starts with an "F" then you have an F-engine if it starts with a "2F"
then you have a 2F engine and so on......... unless the previous owner changed engines on you with you production date of 70' you will have an F engine

The F engine is the smallest of the F series engines

Check out this Link it breaks down the F series http://www.sor.com/sor/cat035.tam?xax=8579&page.ctx=cat035.tam

Good Luck
JP
