Hi all,

I'm looking to run a 285-60r20 for winter on the stock 2015 20" LX rim and a 285-70r18 on a HE LC or tundra bbs wheel.

Would a 3/4" spacer clear my UCA at full lock? I've read alot about 1.25" ones working for full fat 12.5" tires but not sure i need thst much for a 285...

TIA for the assistance! PFA!

So on the LX oem 20", i think being a +56, 1" spacer would bring you to +30 which is pretty ideal for the "34 inch" 285/60r20.

On the heritage BBS, i cant remember the offsets, but you are around the same size tire and i think you could easily share the 1" spacer for both on the LX.

Yes, .75" spacers should work fine for 285s. Just a bit of caution as those wheels don't have pockets cast into the hub so they may not clear the studs with .75" or even 1" spacer. Will have to drill reliefs into the wheels or cut the studs. Both reasonable options.

The pre-2016 cruiser all had factory +60 offset. 2016+ model years with the updated knuckle had +56 wheel offsets.

Sorry, that is true. More caliper backspace must’ve been needed?

You just deserve a model year master thread of your own. You just do.
You have all the details between years and badges.
It would be very useful.

BTW for readers, 16+ 21” got +54.

@Taco Supremo outside of the potential stud trimming that tech has informed us on, that 1” would be even more ideal against your oem +60 at an effective +35. What many and myself included would consider Goldilocks offset.

I run the 34" size 285 on a 17" wheel (as do a lot of folks) with +50 RWs and no rub on UCA. So, whatever the smallest amount of spacer you can make work should be fine. Biggest issue being clearing studs as mentioned. My vote would be having recesses machined in your wheels. If you cut the studs, then you will have to replace them if you ever change to wheels that don't need spacers.

I thought you went to alphas?

Machining the wheels for studs sounds scary. Practically, the relief could be made with a drill bit. No worries about affecting the integrity of the wheels.

Nope, @grinchy did. I almost bought a set when you could get 5 of them for $600.

Oh thats right!
I actually ordered and canceled a set. Keep telling myself bigger tires are the answer. They kinda are though in my case. Should’ve went 285/75 when i had the chance.

Sorry, i was using the term machining pretty loosely. I definitely envisioned making the recesses with a drill in the driveway. So i agree.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. This forum is amazing because of guys like you! 👍 ill get the 1" spacers to hopefully avoid stud chopping and keep in that goldilocks zone for my summer 34's! 😃

Thanks guys. Will I clear the studs with 1" spacers??

I think our studs are 1.5” so that relief teck recommended is needed between the stud bores on the back pad of your wheel. Thats where you may need to make space.

1” spacer i think bora is the choice.

Ahh, ok. So everyone with the 1.25" are cutting the tips off of their studs?

Not sure, i don’t believe in spacers. Depends on the wheels though.
As far as ive seen all lexus wheels have weight relief bored out already.

1.25” covers the stud. I think 1” does as well, but not 100% sure.

Edit: A quick search and it looks like the 1” protrude just slightly, about 1/8”

me neither, the studs are shortened through the hubs a 1/4” or so @Taco Supremo, none of my numbers are solid here though.

I should stop replying lol

No one was helping him!

but i still think 1” is the choice spacer for the LX on anything oem taco.
1” bora

The fronts are fine at 1”. The rear studs poke out a little from 1”, but not from 1.25”
I ran 1” spacers and oem tundra 18” five spokes, there was an existing relief for the small protrusion of the studs.
Shaving the rear studs 1/4” isn’t that big a deal, but it’s more than nothing.
