quarter panel trimming (1 Viewer)

i recently bought my third fj60 and decided that it was finally time that i sign up for ih8mud. i was thinking about trimming the rear quarter panel about 6 inches up from the bottom, making a cap out of sheet metal, and welding it on, providing more clearance. does anybody have experience with this sort of stuff? if so, please send some ideas my way. thanks-nathan

I don't have experience with the operation you are talking about but one of the PO's of my 60 does. They baically cut back the inner skin and folded the outer back to it. Shoot me a pm with your email and I'll send you some pics.

I've always been meanin' to get some better pics than what's on there... and I've been plannin' on redo-ing the whole rear bumper and the quarter protection... Hopefully get started pretty soon here. Anyway, I just went to try and get some better pics, but my camera is dead. I'll snap some tomorrow and post 'em up if they turn out any good.
