By the way ,John, since this thread will be here awhile...see if Todd can change the lower case "iv" in the title to caps..."IV"in so that it will be the actual Roman numeral you were shooting for....please, it bugs me!

It bugs me too.

I typed it in caps....

I bet the river is packed on memorial day.

That part of the river is mostly used for a put in location. It can be busy but usually only till about noon as that is the last drop off time for the outfitters. The afternoons should be quiet. Its also not used as much at the start of summer as the water is spring fed and unusually cold.

Now I'm beginning to question my membership in this thing called "mud"

He's too busy being TLCA Member of the Year

If your gonna base out of there I would highly suggest taking one day to float that river. You can rent boats just up the road from F/N and they will bring you back. You can also just do tubes and float coolers in one with you for those without skills

Ive been thinking we should set up base camp at Flat Nasty and commute to Washita when we feel like it for a day run(s). That way we get all the benefits of flat nasty camp ground, the river, the rc course, the general awesomeness, etc... And we can head over to Washita when we feel like it to hit A4, spotters alley, etc... And if anyone wants to go more than once they can, I know Clint likes to go to the top bald knob, so he (and anyone else) can now go do that at will.

This isnt a bad idea. However two things come to mind. One is hygiene. Going a full week and then some without a shower is a bit much. I know John enjoys it though. Last I knew, FN was suppose to be building a pavillion. Any hear if they were going to build a place for showers too? Standing naked in the river with a bar of soap and the crawdads offering to wash my back for me doesnt sound to appealling.

Second, did flatnasy offer a discount on wheeling and camping for more than one day last year? I cant remember if they gave us a discount for wheeling/camping for more than one day the first year. I think they did but cant remember.

Also would the name of the trip change since you wouldnt be packing you s*** anymore on the trip figuratively speaking?

Flat nasty is not going to build showers. The well at Ron's house cost something like $10,000 to drill. They don't even have running water at the office. He did talk about putting in a well or running water from the neighbor to the office and putting in trailer hookups up there.

You could always rent the cabin for a night.

We probably would be paying for wheeling at both places that day unless Ron gave us a day's discount for going someplace else for the day.

If the plan is to set up base camp, I would think he might be willing to offer a "weekly rate" that would include wheeling and camping.

Not the cabin would be needed for an entire day, I wonder if ron also has 4 hour rates for the cabin?? Squeeze in big toe and shower....

I know Jeremy & Bill both have camp showers...works fine for me the last 3 years
I plan to buy one also for this next year

Even "bottled water bathing" is plenty fine with me

Even without the discount rates, you can't beat the cheap ass vacation

I spent less than $400.00 total on each trip the last 2 years

Everyone loves their own brand! Last I knew, FN was suppose to be building a pavillion. Its there....sorta.Any hear if they were going to build a place for showers too? Geez I hope so, then maybe they can offer a steam room, a salon, and valet wheeling, Standing naked in the river with a bar of soap and the crawdads offering to wash my back for me doesnt sound to appealling. Really? didn't you ever see Finding Nemo?

Second, did flatnasy offer a discount on wheeling and camping for more than one day last year? Nope, but if he continues to put my money into rc courses, pavilions, and heavy equipment to design bad ass lines on the trails (like he started to do last year) I don't really mind. I'm sure you would be the first to complain if he went of business.I cant remember if they gave us a discount for wheeling/camping for more than one day the first year. I think they did but cant remember.

Also would the name of the trip change since you wouldnt be packing you s*** anymore on the trip figuratively speaking?ehhh, I never liked that name.

HTFU

I was just inquiring about showers. I know Bill and Vicki had one but didnt realize Jeremy did too for the last trip and todd is also planning to get one for this trip. I know at Washita there is a place to shower as well and although the owner of SMORR was a douche, that park had the best facility for an offroad park that most of us have been too. Just because you enjoy the white trash/ghetto superstar/hippie lifestyle doesnt mean everybody else has to while on vacation.

HTFU! its only soap

The camp shower was a whopping $7! I think that heavy hitter JoeZ bought one too

I would also enjoy some valet wheeling

I might even add a camp shower to the christmas list, and a battery powered fan. When it comes right down to it the naked in the river idea my be more hygenic then the shower at Washita. Hell we could bring a blow up kiddie pool and take bathes if you don't like the camp showers.

I think the fact that this trip is more of a roughing it kind of week makes it more relaxing and keeps the group smaller.
