I been on here for a few weeks asking a bunch of questions about diffrent 40's and what you guys thought of them. Well I finally decided on one, on Ebay no less, and I go pick it up tomorrow. Its a 1970 that the guy started to restore and lost intrest. Paint is done (but we will see how well its done tomorrow) F engine is rebuilt as well as 3 speed, power brakes. Still needs seat covers and weatherstrip. Also the rear crossmember is cut off, I have a 1977 FJ thats very RUSTY but the frame is good so I may barrow the crossmember, or use the hole frame, not sure yet, just excited to finally have one of these classics to play with. Anyway here are some pics, let me know what you think. I gave quite a bit for it but if he did decent work I think its worth ever penny.

Glad you got your 40 Resto! Goodbye to the $$$ but what the hell..........she's a beaut...good luck, dave

Sweet....The PO of mine lost interest mid resto...maybe you'll be as lucky as I was....Can't wait to see it put together....:)

Whats the plan for it?

Looks like a awesome start, you'll need to keep us updated on progress with lots of pictures.

Thanks for the encouragement. I spent 2K on it but figured if it was done half right to this point I am ahead of the game. Plan is to get it back together, resonable lift, disk brakes, power steering, ect. Going to put it back to more or less stock. If I get there and the body is cruedly done then plans may change to more of an off road FJ. I will definatly keep on posting pictures, that what got me so interested in these was watching all the restorations go together on here. I will be back tomorrow to post more pics and let you all know what it looks like in person.

Looks like a great project. I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it. But I hope you realize what you've got yourself into. Cruisers are like potato chips. You cant have just one. Believe me ten years ago I bought my first and now I've got three.

Well I went and picked up the 40 today, some good some bad. Im tempted to repaint it, it was painted about 3 years and its got some areas I dont like, I will post some pics tomorrow, dont have the energy tonight. The other side of me says put it together and drive it till it starts to rust again then do a frame off on it, much to think about. Anyway I will get back on here in the morning after I get all the parts unloaded. I know it looks good in my garage!!

Quick question, I was lookin thru all my parts and see that my 40 has a stock point distributer, I did a search for upgrades on the forum but didnt find what I was looking for. My question is what is the best/easiest upgrade to an electronic distributer?

I like the pertronix upgrade....Keep a spare set of points and condensor in your glove box though....

Welcome, well done, and good luck with turning it into your dream!
