The molding on my windshield doesn't seem to be seated very well and I'd really like to take a look underneath it to evaluate but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. I can see a lot of sealant from the previous install, and I'm getting water in the cabin (of course right after replacing the carpet)... I'd like to inspect what's going on under the molding to see the extent of what needs to be done. I gather from my research that pulling and reusing the molding is not recommended, so I won't even try that.
My real question is, if I pull the molding, will I be able to evaluate what's going on enough to make a good decision about what to do next (whether the windshield needs reseating or resealing)? If there's a real issue with the windshield being seated properly can I spot it, or does the windshield really need to be pulled in order to tell for sure? I assume any rust identification would need the windshield pulled, but I'm less concerned about that at the moment.
