...yesterday on a 2013 LC with ~70K, metallic gray with black leather.

I flew to Spokane at 7am, went all over through and around the truck, took about a 100 mile test drive, completed the deal and hit the road back to Boise about 1pm.

Fabulous truck...

Handling not as good as my '01 LX, ride felt a bit bouncy. Should I be looking for new Bilsteins or something else?

Also noted PO removed, I think, the charcoal canister...3 metal tubing connections pointing straight back with no hoses connected to them. A blank spice on the inside of the rear bumper in the corner. Is that what's missing. The truck ran like a scaled cat, no CEL issues for the entire 400+ mile trip.

One other question (you can bet they'll be more ;))...should the small description letters at the very top of the dash (temps for both front seats, time, OAT) be illuminated when the headlights are on?

Thx.

Steve

congrats on the new ride. Love the charcoal color. When I picked up my 08' it felt like a minivan it wallowed so bad. springs had settled and shocks were done. Granted I have twice the miles.... new shocks should make a world of difference. I went big, with lift and Icon shocks. made a night and day difference.

Congrats, did the same thing some weeks ago when I purchased my 2013. Flew into Phoenix, drove her home. Fun times.

And yes, the display you speak of should indeed be on when the headlights are on.

oh yeah, and pics!!

Thanks to all for the info.

The drive itself was painless, although with an out-of-state plate (in this case, a paper 3-day transit pass) it's highly recommended to watch your speed once you enter Oregon. Nice to get 1 mile into Idaho and see the 80 mph signs.

She needs a wash after the drive and it's a dreary day here, pics will be forthcoming.

Another question...

I pulled the jack access panel and noted something should be stowed on the inside of the panel...maybe a tool kit??

Steve

Tool kit is stowed in your tailgate

The jack access panel has space for the Toyota First Aid kit (sold separately). image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Bought my toyota first aid kit on Amazon. Fyi

T4Runner, thanks. I have a pretty complete first kit already...may use the space on the inside of the jack cover for a few more tools and spares. Looks like it would also hold a can or 2 of whatever you prefer, but I've got the cooler in the console. ;)
Charcoal canister?
Yes, the charcoal canister.

I cannot find anything here about successfully removing it...the truck ran perfectly, dash display claimed she got 18.9 gallons from Spoken to Boise...that's with many up and down grades...yeah, right.

No CEL action on the dash, no fuses removed...I'm puzzled you could yank something related to emissions without seeing at least what you'd get if the gas tank cap were loose. Shop manuals are on the way from helminc.com...maybe I'll find something when they arrive.

Where was it supposed to be located? I know there is a filter in the air box that people remove, I removed mine from my old 4Runner, just not sure which one your talking about.

I won't have shop manuals for a week or so...but, from what I see, the bare area behind the rear bumper at the far left side has a steel bracket...something was mounted to it, sometime.

The 3 metal hose connections are pointing to the bracket with nothing on it...they face directly to the rear about a foot forward along the driver's-side frame rail...I'm assuming 3 pieces of hose with 90 deg. bends were connected to it.

This thread needs pics. Just sayin'.

Looks like the carcoal canister acrually sits right before the fuel tank. The one with an arrow pointing at it.

At the rear driver side all i can think of is the rear ac unit or actually the rear evaporator and those hoses could be the vent hoses. Switch the car on and run the rear ac, if it is the vent hoses they'll start dripping water
