I have a opportunity to buy a complete PTO winch setup of an HZJ78.
Any chance it can be made to fit my BJ42, 5 speed and splitcase?

Does the HZJ-78 use the same split case T-case? If so, then you can make it work. The shafts have to be altered to fit (which is easy), and you need to fabricate the mounting for the winch head itself, but it's pretty much the same winch as the original 40 series. The 40 series used pillow blocks underneath the supports for the winch, to make up for the not flat frame, but those are easy enough to fabricate.

The split-case PTO gearbox can be hard to find, and pricey when you do find one, so hopefully it is the same split-case on the HZJ-78. If the PTO cover plate has the same bolt pattern, you should be good.
