Got the astro box to fit in the cruiser. The box had to go into the front cross member to give a good pitman arm angle and steering arc. I used the stock pitman on the astro box because it's beefie.
The drivers side motor mount just needed to be shortened a little and I'm using rear motor mounts with a bolt through them for the drivers side. The shaft is part astro on the bottom and a section of DD to mini rag joint welded to my column.
The radiator had to be moved up and over the the pass side and I angled it inward at the top to clear the hood and fan.
I had to make a fan spacer for the fan to clear the accessories. I used an hydro boost pump and oring lines from an mid 90's blazer slightly re bent to connect them.\
Thanks to Matt for all the help.

Hey Mark,

A little off topic here...but I notice you're still using the old 4 blade metal fan. You'll want to carefully look around the 4 bolt holes in the center for cracks in the metal. Those fans have a history of chucking blades from rust and old age. Later plastic fans will fit (from say a '76 FJ40) if you get the aluminum spacer to go with them.

Nice work on the Astro conversion. Did that one for a friend in PA on his 40. He's pretty happy with it AFAIK...

HTH,
Nick

I've got a couple of the steel fans if you need one.

No lift on that rig!
He did do alot of body work, fender triming to make those tires fit.
There are some more pics of it on the YT website under members rigs section.

Stock suspension other than flipped springs.
For the front I just removed the side apron section and moved the fenders up and made a filler piece to fill the small triangular hole.
The rear was more work because of the tub work. The wheel wells are up to the bottom of the rail. and the sides are cut to look right.
Take a good look at the pics in my sig line and you can get a good idea about the rear.

I finally got the steering shaft split collar installed so I can tighten the shaft and take the preload off the steering wheel and it works so well. I can rotate the wheel from side to side while parked with one finger. I moved the dumpster with my front tire and it didn't even require any extra input. WOW I cant wait until the meeting to wheel this thing.
