Hey I may as well try posting here. I recently purchased a 1981 C1500 with a propane conversion.
Its a 305 high compression with a high lift cam and a single plane Holley intake. It's running an Impco 425 mixer, Model L vaporizer, and a vacuum lock off.
I filled the tank at 64,593km
137km and 4 days worth of driving later its empty after drinking 70L of propane. That calculates to 5 MPG. A 2wd square driven by captain slow (myself) should get AT LEAST 12mpg. Something is clearly wrong. The engine is in great health, no vacuum leaks and the timing is set properly.
I cannot for the life of me find how to adjust the mixture on this thing.
Any help would be awesome. I may as well dump a 454 in, it'll get better mileage.
