Gary I'm insanely jealous. Mine almost looks factory. So there is crap everywhere. I fired it up tonight for the first time. Tomorrow it is getting the exhaust and front driveshaft. I need to do a lot of work still. Like it has no rear quarter panels right now and no brakes. But at least it runs. So I did a couple of things right I guess.

Quit showing off and get busy slacker! :-D

Turns out that I had to extend the complete engine harness all 130 wires of it about 14" to get the 2UZ ECU to bolt into the factory FJ62 ECU spot. Took me most of the day but didnt have a choice. Used gas and oil resistant wire and soldered all 260 connections.
Also picked up the front seats from the shop and although the material is still dirty, I really like the way they came out. Used the factory material as inserts into the BMW 5 series heated seats and replaced all the leather with FJ62 color matched leatherette including the backs and pockets. The rear seat will be covered similarly to match the front. French stitched everywhere that can be done.

Gary, please detail how you mod the seat sliders to accommodate the 62's floor. I have access to many bimmer seats and would love for you to do the leg work first.

Amazing work man, thanks for the updates.

Cheers,

Awesome build. I like them seats too.

Gary, are those seats out of an E39? I've got a set of parchment color leather E34 heated / power seats for sale if anyone is interested :D

What is a french stitch?

;)

By the way, Gary. Where did you source the OEM grey pinstripe fabric? Also the leatherette.

I need some to finish my interior.

Thanks for a great build!

Out of an '06 5 series, leather, heated. I changed the sewing patterns some and added the French stitch to lean away from a BMW look.

Nope, E60. Very cool man:D. I'm also interested to see how your mounting brackets come out.

E39 went through '03. '06 is an E60. (Sorry, I had to) :D

Damn, guess I'm not as up to speed with my late model BMW body codes as I thought! Thanks for the correction:cheers:

Edited my post for clarity.

Got quite a bit of the wiring done today, mostly battery and charging stuff. Made all new cables, got the stainless battery trays installed and will pick up the batteries for the dual battery setup. The engine actually turned over today via the key switch so its coming along. Also took this pic to photoshop some different wheel/tire combos. Will post up when I find something I like.
