Are you moving the rear axle back or is it just the angle of the pic that is making the rear look way off center. Or is it just me,... Being retarded as usual

Looks to me he's made some extra room to stretch the wheel base back there. Glad he didn't go overboard, I always think it ruins the lines when the wheel well is brought all the way around the back of the truck.

alright, got a bit done on the 40 today.

pulled the axle

flipped the springs, made new pins.
modified the new perches.

the new brake lines are here, as well as the new ubolts.

i guess still up in the air on the front brakes. when i saw they were vented, i thought someone had swapped them, but i guess not. so we will see if it has late knuckles on it later.

so i love it when a plan comes together.

the spring over is pretty well done.
need to weld out the perches.

springs are flipped end to end, gaining roughly 8" of wheelbase.
i am thinking the springs may need to be reworked to drop an inch or two.

its gonna be TALL when the new shoes show up.

picked up the ubolt kit and stainless brake hose from man-a-fre. (great selection, weak ass website, looks like its the OG design from 96  )

still need to swap the brakes and knuckles.
fate seemed to have forced my hand today.
the crawler started making some noise in the driver front wheel hub, so teardown tomorrow.
updating my 4runner to FROR 3rd gen 4runner brake upgrade.
then my wheel hubs, with 60 rotors and mini IFS calipers as well as mini birfs will go onto the 40.

:cool::cool:

WIsh I had 1/8th your talent. Nice work.

Need to mount the steering box. We got material to sleeve the tie rod and drag link. Ended up having to source an 80 pitman because i guess the taper in the 60 one is queer. We decided to build our own drivelines. The rockers are 2x3. 3/16 angle.

Post away gnob :)

So is there a bushing or something that goes in this hole. 78 fj40 steering column at firewall

Just let me know if you want me to try and track that or those parts down from John. He can be hard to get a hold of but is usually very reasonable on prices.
