I like the attention to detail. That is a pretty awesome rig.

Thanks, but there are lots of people on here with a much better eye for detail than me. I'm a just a hack that makes things work :)

Honestly, I have not been able to play with them enough yet.

Hdpe skid installed and hydro assist in. running the con on the 23rd. What's the over/undet for miles before a major malfunction????

Btw, led lights rock..

Had a heat soak issue with my starter and an odd rough run when it was really hot out. I noticed that the dash volt meter was always just below 12 but I figured it was because the 60 has crappy stock gauges...

Replaced the starter with a gear reduction unit and upgraded all the wires to the battery.

4 gauge from the battery to the alternator (3G ford alternator = 130 amps pf pure joy)
00 fine strand welding cable from the battery to the starter
00 fine strand welding cable starter to the frame
00 fine strand welding cable battery to frame.

Holy cow it starts REALLY quick now and the volt meter on the dash reads over 12volts.. I'm guessing that I had some pretty serious resistance built up in one of the battery cables. It also seems to be running better as well.

Pics of the Hydro assist steering and the new HDPE skidplate :)

And the R134A converted AC kicks ass ;)

Mace, is your AC conversion FAQable? So others may follow suit...

I'd also like to see some current shots of Bob's rear suspension as it sits now.
Are you happy with what you built?

I can't remember if I outlined the AC conversion in the 60 series section or not.

Mine a bit different than others due to the ferd motor, but the idea is the same

I'll look into it.

And, I'll take pics of the suspension at work on the Con next week.

Yes I am happy with it. The truck is not a flex machine, but I did not design it as a rock crawler, but more of a family hauler that is off road capable.

Ran the Con Monday/Tuesday (and the last two miles out on wed  )

Cruiser did awesome. New Starter requires a hammer to start .

And while towing out a Early Bronco, I managed to snap both rear axle shafts in about a foot of trail..

I'm debating rear axle options right now. I may just stick with stock. I had a lot of stress on the rear axle between my heavy rig and the Bronco, I was in double low with the auto, and he was on an obsticle and so was I. I'm not sure that it really was the axles fault.

I do know that the 40's rear axle would have been fine, but I am not sure that I really want a 14 bolt in the back of my truck lol

I love working in the Dirt...

And a great comparison of how to break axle shafts.. Top shows the short side shatter method, and the bottom outlines the long side clean break..

I really prefer the long side clean break personaly...

BTW, I REALY have to thank chicago for helping me out with spare rear shafts. Above and beyond amigo!!!

Yeah buddy!!!
I'm glad I could help!!
Just payin it forward as I have been in the SAME situation TWICE and THOSE in the cruiser community were kind enough to help me in the same way.
Just sorry I couldn't get it to you up there.

Hahahaha.....I have seen that look on Mace's face too many times to count.

the moment I heard he broke, I thought of the axle truss that broke in 2004 Rubithon....left the truck idling as he welded it back together and would up sick as a dog with monoxide poisoning....
