I had this A pillar mount in my 4Runner and am happy to see it works in the 200 even if it’s not made for it.

Digging up an old thread here…

Can some of you guys who have run these for a while opine with a long term review? Specifically, has it led to any fitment issues over time? Weird panel gapping or squeaks? How about upon removal? I’m concerned that having something wedged between the dash panels could cause issues over time.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have mine below the right side vent @DallasTide
Zero dash panel gap in mine - been there for 2 years now. My only complaints are that it blocks the AC vent more than I'd like in the summer, I have to turn the phone a bit clockwise to feel the air out of that vent - and in the winter I do the same because with the heat on it makes the back of the phone a bit to warm for my preference.

Other than those, I find it to be a great spot for the phone and a rugged holder for sure.

I have used pro clip mounts on my last four Land cruisers and have been fully satisfied. I’ve also also used them in a number of other vehicles of mine and my children’s. It is my go to every time. It actually works for me that the phone blocks the AC a little bit because that keeps the battery cool while it’s charging. it does prevent a little bit of the air directly hitting you though as mentioned above.

I wasn’t happy with the one that mounts by the air vent, especially on really cold/hot days. Your phone/phone holder blocks a lot of the air coming out of that vent.

Have had mine mounted to the driver side vent for three years. No issues with the panel gaps. As others have said, annoying that it blocks most of the vent but I can live with that annoyance (especially since I don't live with this as a DD; my wife does!). The only problem I've had is that the right side of the phone cradle cracked a few months ago. I chose not to replace it. I duct taped it (at least I used black so it's not AS noticeable) and ordered RAM mount track + accessories this week to give that set-up a try. I have generally been pretty happy with ProClips as I've owned about 7-8 of them. However, I have installed and been very happy with the Off Roam mounts for my 2019 4Runner and 2022 F-150.

I love my proclip mounts and have used them on the past 6 vehicles I’ve owned. As far as the actual holder, my favorite is the pro clip holder with the MagSafe charger. It’s pricy, but super quality. I’ve had zero issues with it mounted in front of my vent.

I remain very happy with the proclip and wireless charging combination. Use it daily in both the LC200 and BMW 535d. Has worked well, no deterioration from new, 100% happy.

If you all want mount in front of AC vent, then this is MUCH better than above:

OR this one which is my favorite:

BOTH of these vents allow air circulation to BACK of phone to keep phone cool...to prevent overheating esp if sun hits phone.

I like that the pro clip does not attach to the vent in any way yet partially sits in front to keep the charging phone cool, while enough air passes to reach the driver (beside the one at the door). It is also strong and does not vibrate when you drive. Which one is much better is an interesting debate.

Nothing vibrate with either option above, even off-roading.

Pro clip mount blocks air from hitting the back of your phone…the exact area where the battery and processor are (area that gets really warm)! And this is magnified when you are simultaneous charging your phone AND the sun hitting that area!

And this is why i prefer the two options listed above. Simple MagSafe ring magnets…but still allows plenty of air to hit the area where the processor/battery is.

Well, the pro clip base does not mount to the vent moving parts at all. It clips right below it. I prefer this for longevity of the vent mechanism (the moving vanes). At the same time it cools the phone. It is also a strong base. I think it is MUCH better mechanically than any solution clipping into the vent.

It also facilitates the relative big wireless charging base.

So we may have to agree to disagree here. Good there are many choices out there for our different likes.

Sorry to necro this thread, but I just installed a Pro Clip mount on my 2021 and I'm a bit concerned about the panel gap (not trying to baby the truck, but it's new-to-me and I'm neurotic).

I am not mechanically inclined enough to remove the panel so I had to do a "brute force" install per the provided instructions. There were some noises that I didn't love, but no noticeable damage to the car or the mount.

Everything is snugly in place, but there is a slight panel gap at the edge of the panel towards the cluster/camera toggle (see picture). It makes sense as the mount has to create space to get its plastic in between the seam.

Should I be concerned about panel damage over the short or long term? I would really like to keep this setup as the mount is well located and it feels incredibly secure. But if it's going to be a headache in the long run I'll pop it off and find another solution.

You’ll get used to the gap and it won’t hurt anything. The problem I found with that system is the small strip of adhesive on the vent trim did not like Florida heat. I had the mount come off while driving. Bad prep on my part? Maybe, but I decided to not use it after that.

Thanks for the reply.

I will keep an eye on that. Truck will be garage kept at the house, but at the office and while out and about it will be cooking for sure.

I will probably use it until it fails. Fingers crossed.
