Problems with wireless remotes?

It could happen with just two guys out on the trail. If they are real dumbass types. ;)

Mark...

Or just didnt know the remotes would run both winches... Until it is too late.... SURPRISE!

I guess you're more forgiving than I Mark.

In my mind, in that situation, two guys alone or in a small group, both winching within a few feet of each other, at the same time, not working together and coordinating with sometime taking the lead...unaware of each others gear and not realizing that the gee whiz gadgets they have fitted might interfere with each other... That is stepping into dumbass territory.

When all is said and done, I tend to agree with you. I don't think the remotes are worth a whole lot myself.

If I drop a wired controller in the water or deep muck it is not lost the way a wireless remote really could be.

I have two of them sitting unopened in the shop and doubt I will ever use them myself.

Mark...

With the 3rd yes i meant to agree that it does not solve the problems while they are in use.

In Europe we have all sorts of 4x4 competitions, most of them are pretty hardcore and overcrowded so the chances of trouble are huge.

Folks do a lot of stupid things if they are attending a competition......

I have a wireless remote but dont ever use it...... no real need for it.:meh:

The lesson: be careful with everything when you are out there, especially when you are winching and ESPECIALLY if someone is using a wireless remote.

I, for one, will not be going the wireless route and will discourage their use at events I am associated with.
