I dont have property in Montana, but I have an LLC there for an actual business. I used it to register my 80 there. That lasted 6 months until I got a letter then a second letter from the CHP telling me that my rig needed to be registered in California. The law is pretty clear about it and didn’t feel like fighting it. Part of me thinks its was neighbor that reported me since we have an ongoing beef.
Yeah, totally a neighbor "deal." Bummer.
My neighbor is a retired county sheriff, we get along great. He's got a impressive car collection.

My wife worries about getting pulled over. I've told her, I have a MT license, and property tax records to prove our residence. I lose zero sleep over this.

I just swung by my local Lexus dealership. All GX’s had $1500 paint protection, $3500 ding, windshield tire protection and a $8500 dealer markup. Is that how dealers are selling these things or is it a Southern California thing?
Cali is just a different animal

Interesting that my LD has 1958s coming in at a 2:1 ratio over the regular and FE. I think they see the writing on the wall regarding the 4Runner. No one is likely to pay the LC premium for what is basically the same vehicle - TRD Offroad Premiums are spec'd like non-58 LCs and are $8M less. I think there will be deals to be had on a new LC for those not into their 250 yet if you can wait for the 4Runners to flood the lots.

$8K. If they are $8M less, Toyota really priced the 250 high!

I think you're right. I suspect a lot of buyers will drive a 1958 and a Limited Trim 4Runner (roughly same price and both with awd) and I'd guess about 90% of those people will pull the trigger on the 4Runner. I haven't driven one yet, but I'd expect the adaptive variable suspension on the Limited 4R and the heated leather seats to be a pretty easy win for buyers who spend most of their time on the highway.

You've got to go all the way up to the GX550 Luxury+ at $81k to get AVS in a GX550. The cross shopping between the 4Runner Platinum and GX550 might be interesting as well.

I agree. The new 4runner will depress the 250 (and, in turn, used 200s). Not a bad set-up for BOF Toyota buyers.

This email was a bit surprising to me. When is the last time someone saw a lease special as an option for a LC? Is this just because dealers have so many sitting on lots?

I recall them for the LX570, but not the LC200. It is pretty unusual at Toyota because most Toyota buyers are buyers. Most Lexus get leased.

Also - as an interesting side note, they must really be struggling to sell the Tundras. Same dealer has a $399/mo lease offer with roughly similar terms for the Tundra based on nearly the same MSRP on both.

Ohhh...my eyes burn seeing this. o_O I was thinking exactly that the other day when someone here mentioned that was leasing the 250Prado, thus not very much concerned with reliability or longevity. Never seen (and thought I would never see) the words lease and Land Cruiser in the same sentence. Oh and when Toyota marketing keep calling this the "new land cruiser" and on another forum here I see pics of the 300 everywhere else in the world, my heart aches

Also, answering your question. No. This is because this 250 replaces the 5th gen 4Runner, where leases were somewhat common...oh wait, but there is a 6th gen 4runner...so confusing. o_O

A few years ago, You would have found a fair number leased 200s in certain parts of Texas. Think oil country.

Hey all, long time listener first time caller.

There are definitely deals out there. I was able to get multiple offers in writing from different dealers for 10%+ off MSRP for new 1958s. Both with and without add-ons. I pulled the trigger on a 1958 for almost 11% off. It was loaded up at the port with options, so it was probably a bit easier.

Almost everyone around here is playing ball if you push hard, it's like the good old days. 9% or so seems to be where they really start digging in their heels. I've been haggling with 4 or 5 dealers for a few days and making them compete with each other.

Even the gaslighting, backwater, full of baloney dealer I used to get my Taco serviced at was trying to be in the game.

@highsmith proud of you. In my 55 years buying cars, I have never had any love for car dealers. Now at my age, I hate to say I can get downright nasty but if they want my business….deal with me and my attitude. There are way too many of them around. This is NJ, the most populated state. 👍Good luck with the new 1958!

Thank you sir. I'm excited to have a Land Cruiser.

And yes, agreed. The dealers created the game- If they get mad when people play it, then that's on them.

Congrats on negotiating. It is just telling that they are willing to play ball. Those things are waaay overpriced and people clearly see that. They are piling up in lots. If you are bringing your OTD close to low $50s you are in the right path. Anything above that for a 1958 is not a good deal in my book.

I agree they are probably overpriced... Toyata has to see that most people who are not Toyota loyal are already out there driving new Broncos, and those start stripped-down at like $42k. And Toyota has a bunch of Land Cruisers taking 45+ days to sell. They also have the 4 Runner about to start showing up on lots in volume and might have a real problem on their hands soon.

My experience is that if you tell the dealers in negotiations you're looking at Broncos too it really gets their attention.

The four door Bronco Heritage Limited Edition MSRP is $69685. There is no way in hell I’m taking that over a Landcruiser trim 250 at $70k.

The Bronco Heritage Limited is IMO a pretty bad value option in the Bronco lineup. But a regular Bronco Heritage is much better. Turbo V6, 35's, low range transfer case, standard front and rear lockers, bilstien 3 stage RR shocks, etc for $55k. I wouldn't choose it as a daily driver because of the inherent issues with the removeable top. But it's hard not to look at it as a better value than an LC as far as being significantly more feature rich at the price. If Toyota offered an LC250 with a turbo v6, sway bar disconnect, 35s, 4.56 diffs, TRD OR level suspension, and front/rear lockers at $55k - there wouldn't be any sitting for 100+ days on lots.

It's possibly also true that if Ford were building to Toyota quality levels there wouldn't be Broncos sitting either. I just did a search and the Bronco's are as much as $10k under MSRP. A Big Bend is around $37k advertising pricing at lots of dealers. That's $20k less than a base LC250! An Everglades with 35's, lockers, snorkel, beadlock wheels, OEM winch and bumper, - pretty much trail-ready for $51k. It's pretty crazy just how much cheaper they are spec'd similarly or better vs the Toyota 4Runner/LC models in real world dealer pricing. Even a Wildtrack that MSRP at $68k are in dealer listings for $51-54k. Appears that Ford isn't moving them across the range. If I had room for another toy - a 2 door Bronco would be pretty fun.
