There is a '17 LC for sale new me, with 8,088 miles on it.

1. Do you think the sales manager was likely driving it? Sounds too high for test driving
2. Should I be concerned with the mileage, when does the warranty start?
3. What's a reasonable discount to ask for considering the mileage?

Laws are different from state to state. I think a demo in AZ can be sold as new up to 7500 miles.

1. Most likely a demo. That's certainly not test drive mileage.
2. I wouldn't be concerned with the mileage unless you're dead set on a brand new vehicle. I was considering a local demo, but the sales manager couldn't be bothered to actually bring the truck in for me to look at so I ended up buying one with 36 miles on it from an out of state dealer.
3. I'd be low balling them if it were me. They've used it about as much as they can. Now they just need to get rid of it. Use that to your advantage.

Are they listing it as "new"? Probably is a demo or manager driven if so. When I was shopping for an M4 the local dealer had a "new" one they were selling that the manager was driving. It had over 2500 miles on it.

Yes, selling as "New".

Thanks. I'm going tomorrow morning. It's in TX, apparently they can sell it new as long as it hasn't been titled, IIRC. I'm going to ask for $65, considering no matter what they tell me I'll never know how those 8,088 miles were driven.

I agree with this.

That sounds like a good plan. They definitely need to knock the price down a fair bit. That's nearly a year of average driving mileage before you even own it. That being said, if it's in immaculate condition and you can get it for a fair price, go for it.

When I think of "new" I think of straight off the truck or showroom floor.

It's listed at 72,484 so I know it's already a good deal, but like already said that's a lot of miles

Considering MSRP is $84.7k, I'm going to say there is absolutely no way you're going to get it for $20k off list because it was a demo for a few months especially if they're classifying it as new. If you really want to work a deal on it with them, I'd honestly start off with a more realistic offer because I would think you weren't a serious buyer if I worked at the dealership. I see 16s with 40k miles that were used as rentals selling for $62-65k, so they'd be better off sending it to auction than accept $65k. No offense intended, but you came here for advice.

No offense taken. I dont' want to start higher, because I really feel they'll accept 70k and so will I, in the mean time I want to get as much off as I can.

I just purchased my "new" 2016 with 560 miles on it for 72k. There was a lot of back and forth to get the price to that point. The general manager drove it to several corporate events I was told. I have looked at a half dozen "new" 16' and 17' Land Cruisers and thousands of miles and exterior blemishes were the norm unfortunately. All seemed to be driven by GMs or dealership owners. They would not do much on the prices either which was surprising.

Thanks for sharing that. Luckily, this price is already shown at 72k, and it has 8,000 miles. Hopefully they'll budge if I come ready to buy tomorrow. I just need to get as much off as possible since i'm upside down on my current vehicle

Good luck, hope it works out!

b.t.w. get a real good look at the car, my guess is it has not been babied. These dealership guys don't seem to take care of the cars they are given to drive.

That's exactly why I plan to start at 65k. I understand that's an insane offer, but really despite whatever they may try to tell me there is no way for me to feel comfortable with "how" those miles may have gotten there. They could have taken it off-road for all I know. That's just too many miles to just ignore.

I bought a 2015 untitled dealer manager driven demo with 7k miles in NY Last year. I cannot remember the MSRP but it was about 83k IIRC. I started out offering 60k and they said 70k so I walked out then came back a month later talked directly to the manager, did some negotiating and I got it for 65k plus they threw in a set of all season floor and trunk mats. A big discount but at that time the refreshed 16's were just in the showrooms and the dealership didn't usually sell any land cruisers so they didn't want an 83k SUV taking up valuable space in the showroom any longer. Play hard ball 2018s are just around the corner.

Amazing!

Is that so? I've heard differently, I definitely had that question in mind.

Friend is a local Toyota fleet manager. SE Toyota starts up the warranty based on a date known by him as "date entered service". If they did any work on it and got factory bucks back then he says it has probably entered service even if never titled.

This is what I was referring to.
