Congrats!

I called the dealer that has the one I test drove this weekend and they still have it. I reiterated to one of the sales clerks to tell the Main Manager that I have 40K burning a hole in my pocket if he's willing to go down a few more grand. My Bank already cut me a check to purchase too...

Hopefully they call me back before the weekend..

Seems so crazy how expensive these things are. I hope they continue to hold their value.

Resale on my GL 450 was like a sinking ship. I did some research and found that Toyota sold about 3,800 lc's in 2008 whereas Mercedes sold over 26,000 gl450's.

Here in CT there js a salsa red 200 with 64k on it asking 40900 at Middletown Toyota if this helps

Hey everyone, new Rookie member here--- so here's my entry into the 200 realm-

I just purchased a clean '08 200, fully loaded (nav, dvd, etc), all service, one owner, seems it was probably a suburban grocery getter with 53K miles for $44,999. Dealer came off asking price of $46,999 after lots of "horse trading" back and forth.

The first dealer I had looked at had an '08 with slightly lower miles and CPO, but they would absolutely not budge off of $52K (huh?? where's the fun in that? If they gotta have $52K, then mark it to $54K... just so you can play some poker... what pukes!). They were also not willing to step up on my trade ('06 4x4 Chevy Duramax LT crew cab w/ 144K). They would give $15K. Not a penny more. So I walked (even though I really liked the first LC).

The 2nd dealer gave me $18K trade-in for the Chevy (3K over my 'local' dealer!!!). So on my total I closed the gap by $6K between the trade and dealer starting point.

It seems the market here (Colorado) is pretty hot on these trucks- and dealers are pretty damn proud compared to the prices I've just read in this thread. The Chevy was starting to give me fits (hubs, electronics, diff. leaks,) and I didn't have the time to travel several states to maybe save a couple grand... and for the LC purchase, color and miles played heavy on my choice. I'm happy with my deal and the truck is everything I was imagining the 200 to be. Love it. So radically different from the two 80's (well one now, RIP the other- it committed suicide in a ghost reverse roll-out off the side of a mountain... always use the e-brake on inclines!).

All that said, looks like if you have cash, the time and patience to wait it out, want to ship it or travel, and don't need the ease of trade-in then a low mileage LC 200 can be had for +/- $40K retail. Cheers.

Just bought an 08

Just wanted to add to the discussion. I just bought a 2008 w/ 65k for $39,900. Toyota certified, clean car fax, upgrade package. Judging from the xm presets I think it was owned by a little old Korean lady. Red w/ tan leather, not my first choice but looks sharp. Dealer threw in an extra smart key (only came w/ one) and got the missing parts (rear volume knob, third row center headrest) shipped to me.

I had been searching for a while for an 08 and lost out on a few because I couldn't pull the trigger. The one I should of bought was in central MA, Grey, 45k miles, it was at $45k and was eventually exported to South Africa! A few others that I liked did not last long either. They were dropping like flies. I eventually said the hell with it, at the price I got and the trade I got I couldn't wait any longer.

Traded an 08 sequoia platinum w/ 100k miles. We brought this rear wheel drive model back with us to Maine from Georgia. Big mistake, should have sold it in the south. But all in all the trade was fair. Dealer (CT) said he was going to ship it to at least PA w/ the 2wd.

Had to drive 4 hrs each way to get it but it was well worth it. going to put the weathertech mat's in her right now.

I also think prices will stay relatively high for used 200s. There's only 12 different 08 or 09s within 300 miles of me on autotrader, mostly between 45-55k. There was a 08 at a local dealer listed at 38k a month ago. It sold fast! I think the low supply will keep prices high until the 300 or new LC hits the market.
