Hey everyone, new Rookie member here--- so here's my entry into the 200 realm-
I just purchased a clean '08 200, fully loaded (nav, dvd, etc), all service, one owner, seems it was probably a suburban grocery getter with 53K miles for $44,999. Dealer came off asking price of $46,999 after lots of "horse trading" back and forth.
The first dealer I had looked at had an '08 with slightly lower miles and CPO, but they would absolutely not budge off of $52K (huh?? where's the fun in that? If they gotta have $52K, then mark it to $54K... just so you can play some poker... what pukes!). They were also not willing to step up on my trade ('06 4x4 Chevy Duramax LT crew cab w/ 144K). They would give $15K. Not a penny more. So I walked (even though I really liked the first LC).
The 2nd dealer gave me $18K trade-in for the Chevy (3K over my 'local' dealer!!!). So on my total I closed the gap by $6K between the trade and dealer starting point.
It seems the market here (Colorado) is pretty hot on these trucks- and dealers are pretty damn proud compared to the prices I've just read in this thread. The Chevy was starting to give me fits (hubs, electronics, diff. leaks,) and I didn't have the time to travel several states to maybe save a couple grand... and for the LC purchase, color and miles played heavy on my choice. I'm happy with my deal and the truck is everything I was imagining the 200 to be. Love it. So radically different from the two 80's (well one now, RIP the other- it committed suicide in a ghost reverse roll-out off the side of a mountain... always use the e-brake on inclines!).
All that said, looks like if you have cash, the time and patience to wait it out, want to ship it or travel, and don't need the ease of trade-in then a low mileage LC 200 can be had for +/- $40K retail. Cheers.
