Hey guys,

I see a whole raft of cosmetic kits on Alibaba to upgrade your 2008-2015 LC200 to a 2016+ and I was curious if anyone has tried?

There are a couple of the very many examples here and here. There's also kits for the interior... I know there'll be shipping, painting, install... but there's a $40K difference between pre and non-pre facelift models here in AUS at the moment.

*It is easing a little now that the 300 series is trickling in, but they also start at the price of a small house and aren't everyone's cup of tea

Also if I start looking at the interior, can I safely assume that the wiring for steering wheel controls is there and I just need a new wheel?

Appreciate your thoughts!

It's certainly possible. This is an early LX converted to a 2016+LC with Toyota parts. Don't think I've seen anyone on MUD document buying one of the Ali-Baba kits. But I've seen youtube videos of the installs. Seems like a lot of work to trick someone into thinking you have a 2016+ if that is the point...

Thanks :)
It's more for me than anything else. Can't really justify upgrading atm but it's beginning to look dated, especially as the bumper took a hit which also killed a running light, and headlights aren't coming back as good each time they need ever increasing polishing. Replacing all that is a big chunk of what a whole conversion kit costs so I thought I'd investigate if it's really viable.

To each their own I suppose..

We paid near what a 2016+ goes for for our 2013 specifically due to preference in the front end design 😄

IMO, if you don't like it.. sell it and buy a 2016+ when you can justify the costs if that is what you truly want.

I've got a free 2019 bumper skin in perfect condition if anyone wants to pick it up in San Diego. Swapped mine out to a TJM winch bumper.

A bullbar with winch and lights would be far cheaper, give it a refreshed look, and offer utility in the way of protection, winch, and lighting.

There is no way I'd trust alibaba headlights to have a worthwhile beam pattern or electronics, or resist turning yellow within a few years. Unless the kit doesn't come with lights and you must source OE. Which will be $$$$

I’ve been kicking around the idea of the 2016 lx steering wheel retrofit on a 2015 lx. Are they compatible? The new steering wheel imo looks much better.

I’m not sure about LX but on the LC there are a ton of reports of the 16+ steering wheel having issues with the leather very quickly.

I believe that was isolated to 2016-2017. I haven't seen it on 2018+

Believe it or not, but there are bunch of people converting their LC200s to the headlights and taillights of the LC300. Definitely not my cup of tea, since when is it a mortal sin to not own the latest Land Cruiser?

Photos are taken from the internet.

The lc300 front end looks damn good. A modern looking truck isn’t such a bad thing, but to each their own.

How about the rear? Tbh if we only do front conversions it would look just great. For me though, I definitely would not discard genuine Toyota parts and replace them with ones from Alibaba
