Pre Heat Light on 4.2 Diesel in UK (1 Viewer)

A plea for help from the UK!

I have a 1995 4.2, 24 valve, diesel Landcruiser.

The pre-heat light dash comes on from time to time. ???

The vehicle always starts perfectly.

The light on comes on for a second when cold.

But from time to time the light comes on whilst driving.

Any ideas? :-\

WAG, but maybe the wire that goes to the pre-heat relay is loose. The power fluctuates and the relay resets. It should only come on when power is present after power has been off.

Certainly sounds plausible

I have located the timer relay and checked connections on that.

But I can't find glow plug relay!

The workshop manual I have isn't very helpful.

Any ideas?

You could count ther number of Diesel 80's in the US on one hand. Have you visited 80'scool? There are many Diesel owners present on that list.
