Hi Everyone,
I live in Malaysia and have acquired a Toyota Prado automatic gear, 90 series, 2.7l 3RZ-FE engine, year 2000, 1.5 year ago - this is my first car.
I have just reached the 150km on the odometer and my Toyota service centre requires me to go for full servicing, which means paying 6 times the usual price , mentioning the renewal of oil for gear box, filter etc.
I am very bad in mechanics and my understanding of mechanical problem is close to nil. I have no problem to pay for the maintenance of my car but just want to make sure that I am paying the right price for what I get or at least not too far from the right figure.
In addition the guy has proposed me to renew the following:
. Gasket Cyl HD Cover
. Ring O
. Oil Seal (NOK)
. Oil Seal (NOK)
. Cap Radiator
. Hose rad inlet
. Hose rad outlet
. Seal packing oil pan
saying that the engine is starting to leak, though there is absolutely no drops of oil whatsoever but the engine casing is a bit black, meaning for the service centre that the engine starts to leak.
This servicing and repair will cost me all together USD 1000.00 on the basis that the above repairs/services require the engine to be fully dismantled and taken out of the car, not to say that I have to let them the car for 7 working days.
Can anyone advise me on the trustworthiness of this guy? I have no issue to pay if it is worth to do so, but I doubt that all is true in this...
I appreciate your advice on this,
Thanks in advance,
