I put one in the rear end nine years ago. Installation instructions were very easy to follow, I am not a mechanic, so it took me around four hours. It is seamless on the hard stuff. I wish I had the money to throw one in the front.

I installed a lot of those , and is the best bang for the buck! had them in all of my trucks , Half the price of the ARB , less mechanical parts, runs on standard diff oil , no electric parts , you will notice them coming thru a hard corner (unless you apply the clutch), and parking on the mall , I installed mine 30.000 miles a go so far so good , I have one also on the front of the "TOY" but it is very aggressive , I would recomend it only on the rear axle for a street -trail truck.

Easy peasy install in the rear. No thrust washers to deal with or any other exacting measurements. Their measuring block is a go/no go. Put mine in 11 years ago in about 3 hours. Had to grind the end plugs slightly so that they would fit into the axle end cups. Also had to take the wheels off to get the axle to move all the way in to install the c-clip.

Easy I've done it twice. Make sure you test it the way the installation manual says to before you button it up and ad the oil. That way you can fix any issues before it breaks anything.

Thanks for the info. Would you put the truetrac or the the powertrac in if you had the choice

If I recall the powertrax is the true locker? It releases around corners but is other wise locked up. I love mine and am always impressed with the off road advantage it give me over my friends cruisers that don't have lockers.

No, fast eddy, the powertrax no-slip is not like the aussie lockers. The powertrax lockrites are like the aussie lockers. The no-slip is a different animal. Check out their website for details.

Although it now seems that they are calling the no-slip a "traction systems"

go figure....

Do they make a trutrac for a 9.5"? I have one in my chev and really like it. I'd throw one in my 60 in a heartbeat!

As far as I know they don't make them for the 9.5" Toyota. I have the great grand daddy of the truetrac (torsen) in a 1960 FJ25 with coarse splines. It has them front a rear. Has custom hubs with press on wheel bearings to do away with the C clips. It works seamlessly. Even the front is easy to turn with it in 4WD unlike the lockrite and aussie that want to go straight.

The lockrite is more agressive, noisy & cheaper. I used to run 1 for many yrs. I put a powertrax in my nephews h**p. It is not near as noisy & works alot smoother. It's definately and improvement over the lockrite. Its been in there for 6yrs or more w/no problems. Driving charateristics are very similar to each other on accel & de-accel. I currently run a detriot locker in the 40 & it is way better than either of them, but alot more $$ & time to install.
