When I bought the LX470, the previous owner had a spare master window switch unit as the original switchs were loose.
I replaced it, but the connectors are different.
The original has a 20-pin while the new one (provided by the previous owner) has a 14-pin connector.
I think the new one is from a Toyota, however it fits in the "wood" frame in the door.
Is there a way to make the connector fit by either an adapter or change the wires from the female 20-pin to a female 14-pin?
There are only 12 wires used.

Sounds like the wrong part. Possibly from an 03+ LX model? I'd just take it to the dealership and see if they'd be willing to do an exchange. Or buy another switch if you can afford it.

I ran into a similar issue recently. Here's what I learned:

Your switches are NOT interchangeable. I bought a used switch from a 1999 LC to replace my faulty 2002 LC switch, but they did not match up. You have to be careful to purchase the EXACT part# in order for it to work. I wound up getting a switch from a 2002 LX and that did work on my 2002 LC. BTW, a new master window switch from the dealer will run you $600+. You are much better off scouring Ebay for a replacement ($100-300).

Good luck

The LX master switch is "full-auto". The LC is only driver window "full-auto". Seems like your new part is for a LC and not LX. They are not compatible but look identical.

You sure about that? My 2002 LC master switch is also all-auto. I can depress each switch until it clicks and fully roll up/down without holding the switch. Unless it was swapped out for an LX switch by the previous owner...

:hhmm: really? I guess they made the switch on the LC's after 2000. I only thought the 03+ LC and 98+ LX had the full auto. Interesting.

The full auto options came later on LC's, around 01 or 02. The parts really aren't interchangable from LC's to LX's. And believe it or not the connectors are different (or at least in a different location on the part) for the Master switches on LX's.

Get the correct part for your LX and your year. If you take the part to the dealer. Explain to them the part couldn't be plugged in or used in anyway because of the connector. Often times electronic parts have different rules how to return them and such.

I looked into this. The 98-00 LC has the non-all-auto switch. The 01-02 LC has the all auto switch that is identical to the 98-02 LX. The '03 LC has a different part than all previous and is the same as the '03 LX. Sometime after that, the PN changes but I didn't go that far.

It might be different in Oz. :-)
The original master switch in my 2002 LX has only the driver window as automatic.

I have contacted the previous owner and he will look into this when he is back as he is on business trip this.
On the original, 3 switches have broken lips so it will not click into position. And I think I am missing springs and some little white plastic ingredients.

Oh, forgot about the OP. Too many 100/105 versions out there! Yes, RHD Aussie spec 98-02LX have completely different switch (84820‑60160) that doesn't appear to be shared with anything else.

I knew we were different. :-)
Where do you get the part numbers from?
Is that toyodiy.com?

Thanks.

See Hoser. The difference between you and I is laziness. I'm too lazy to look up the individual differences and you're not! Thanks for going the extra mile on clarification.
