I'm sure the answer is hear, maybe I used the wrong key words to find it.
The issue is on my rear passenger side door window. When I roll it up with the auto switch, it rolls down about half way as soon as it completely up. I have been able to override that by holding the power window switch in the up position, until yesterday. It took about 5 min. of messing with it for the window to stay up? Any ideas?

It is probably the pinch safety thinking there is something like a kids arm hitting, so it lowers down. It is based off pressure, so maybe your regulator and motor needs to be cleaned and greased or replaced.

Edit:
Please see scubajon's response below as this does NOT appear to be a proper/working solution.

To reset the driver's side power window auto-close:

1. Push down and hold the driver’s door power window switch to completely open the window.
2. Pull and hold up the driver’s door power window switch until the window closes. Continue holding the switch for approximately one second.
3. Check for proper operation of the “one–touch open/close” by pushing the switch briefly to the “DOWN” and “UP” positions.

this method does not work on a 2000 I tried it multiple times you have to take the door apart and re index the motor

It worked with a '98 I tried it on yesterday and thought I used it with my '04, but I could be mistaken. I think with the nondrivers window, the sequence should be completed at the door, then from the drivers door switch.

hey guys, i am having the same issue with having a installed a new driver door regulator on my 06 LX470.

auto down works fine. auto up works, but as stated by the OP, mine is also acting like it is sensing the "pinch" feature and rolls back down about 1/3 of the way on its own. it will go all the way up manually, the auto is the issue.....

any input? didnt see any height adjustment that would make this an issue....

I had the same issue with the passenger front window on my 98 lx. I did the reset from the driver's master switch and it worked.

Thanks everyeone

This is an old thread, but I just wanted to add my experience to the mix.

2001 LC, pass rear window going back down half way.

The fix I did is written here on other threads, but I had a little trouble following the instructions (maybe its me, and it very well could be). The final fix was to take apart the motor from the regulator, with power still applied to the motor, use the switch to power up the window until it stops turning. THEN reattach the motor to the regulator and install. Remember not to roll it down while inserting and reattaching the whole thing or you will have to do this over again.

Do you have a link to the instructions? I never did fix this. I just keep my windows locked.

its in here. Search for the FSM instructions for window motor replacement. Really though here are the steps:

remove door panel

I taped the window up with duct tape so I didn't accidentally drop it inside and break it.

remove the bolts holding the regulator on the door, but just loosen the top one that looks like it can be removed through the hole its in.

Then remove the whole assembly (motor and regualtor)

using a torx bit of the right size (not sure, just used the one that fit from my set), remove the motor from the regulator.

with the power still to the motor, hit the auto up function until it stops moving (about 10 sec).

reattach the motor to the reglulator

insert the whole assembly into the door again (make sure to get that roller on the end of the regulator in the window track at the bottom of the window)

remember that bolt we didn't remove but slid it out of the hole, that is what will help line up the rest.

That's it, test it once you get the 4 bolts in the door/regulator.

Should be good to go. Might take a try or two, but that's it is a nut shell.

I tried to just inch the window up when I'd use it, but that got to be a pain. I like it when things work the way they're supposed to.

I found this video that seems to fix the issue of auto windows rolling back down halfway right after closing up. Is this a manageable DIY job for a beginner?
