I was in the process of rebuilding my power steering pump following the directions in the FSM and this thread. As I was trying to remove the front plate using a brass drift, I seem to have hit the bushing a couple of times instead. It is now slightly marred (along with some of the sides) and was wondering if the pump is still usable, serviceable, toast, or if the bearing can be replaced (I couldn't find one in the parts catalogs). I'd appreciate any insight from the experts here. Photo included, though not the best image quality.

That is not available as a separate service part. This is all you get:

What year is your truck? That may have been a part that was designed out when it was sourced for the '95-'97 year models. The 2nd generation ('92-Jan '95) had a rear housing that the later years didn't have.

It's from a '97. It also has a rear housing plate when disassembled, and follows the diagram that you shared earlier. I'm curious whether or not it will still work or if I need to scrap it altogether.

The rear housing plate is part number 44324A in the EPC illustration. I think it's the bushing in your photo. You can't always trust Japanese translations. That part number is a pressure relief valve in the current EPC.

Both the early and late pumps will work on any 1FZ-FE engine. The difference between the two is internal and transparent to the driving system.

Whether it'll work or not depends on whether that's the bore that the vanes ride on, and how far into the bore the damage is. At the very least, try to file it down to remove any projections into the bore diameter, but don't touch the bore where the vanes ride, if it is that bore. If it is the vane sealing bore, there should be witness marks where the vanes ride.

I can't remember the details; it's been a while since I had a pump apart. It's on my list to do this weekend, if you can wait a day. I'll have photos of mine to share if you can.

Related to this part: Do you or anybody else know what/where I can find the torque spec on the High Pressure Port (Part 44308 in the diagram)? I have been digging through forum threads and the FSM, I have the power steering section in the FSM, it has the torque for the banjo bolt that plugs into the port, but not the port itself. I'm at a loss.

»Power Steering Pump Assembly
page SR-30, step 11: 51ft·lbf

»Power Steering Vane Pump Installation
(same page) step 2: Union bolt, and (2) new gaskets [or one really good one, if you have the new design] 42ft·lbf

I invested in the real deal crowsfoot (09631-22020, 17-mm), but I have a fleet. You really need this for the gear end pressure hose connection. There is no way to get a torque wrench on these banjos without it, or something like it. These are the old version, which was a two tool set. They are now sold separately. A "standard" crowsfoot is too short to use, at least on the gear banjo.

Here's what the 17-mm "new" tool looks like:

Thanks a million. Apparently I didn't look up the half a page to step 11. Feeling stupid but oh well, I've got it now. Ordering new gaskets because I squashed the new copper gaskets down before realizing the Pressure Port was loose. Ah well.

And noted on the Crows Foot, I decided to just pick up a kit from my local parts store (they had flare nut crows wrenches, color me surprised) and see if they work.

Part #s the Pressure Feed Tube Gaskets:
New attached Style, non reusable: Toyota 44327-30030
Old single O-ring style, non reusable: Toyota 90430-16168

Torque for Pressure Feed Tube: 42 ft lbs

Pressure Port O-Ring, non reusable Part #: Toyota 90301-19003
Torque for Pressure Port Union: 51 ft lbs

relevant section in FSM: SR30

In the 1997 FSM it notes 15ftlbs / 20Nm
