Power Steering Issue, Gear Box or Pump?

Hi All,

So I have an 84 FJ60, and the power steering is slowly dying on me. Sometimes it works, sometimes not at all, but its never 100% working. It feels like when I turn the wheel it wants to works and gives out.

It does make the power steering pump dying sound when turning it, but here's the problem. I don't see any leaking coming from the pump or gear box. Could their be an issue here, or is it as simple as bleeding the system. Thanks All!

stupid question time - did you check the level of your pump?

Check your air pump below your PS pump - covered in fluid?

My guess would be the pump is dying before it was your gear box.

Level looked good, ill take a look at the smog pump in the daylight see if any evidence is on it.
