Power Steering HJ60 2H issues at low revs (2 Viewers)

Hey everyone, sorry to bring up more Power Steering questions but I don't seem to be able to solve this despite trying lots of the great ideas on this forum! I have a 86 2H HJ60.

In summary the power steering is not working at low revs/when you’re not moving. i.e. parking, manoeuvring etc. It's VERY hard to get the wheels turning as it feels like the power steering pump is not assisting as it doesn’t have the revs to help. I have increased the idle and also had the pump rebuilt +new belt and then re tested and its still not a lot better. When the revs are there (when driving) its fine but I was wondering if there was a trick I’m missing here? I’ve been through the forums/YouTube etc Yes I know the tyres are bigger (33s) and this definitely isn't helping but there must be a solution.

- Fluid is ATF Dextron IID
- Flushed through 3 times
- Cold fluid level is bottom of hot mark on dip stick
- Front of truck lifted and wheel turned lock to lock to bleed (multiple times)
- I don't seem to have an idle up value for the power steering on this 2H (it seems some did and some didn't... maybe autos?)
- Belt tensioned (new tensioner pulley)

At the moment I've run out of ideas so any help would be appreciated.

- maybe I add an oversized pulley to the power steering pump?

Maybe the pump pressure is low.
There is a way to check the pressure but it requires special tools. See attached pdf from the manual.

The manual states:
"If the difference of pump pressure at 1000 RPM vs 3000 RPM is excessive, (greater than 71psi/490kPa) repair or replace the flow control valve of the power steering pump."

Most of us end up replacing the pump.

Did you check the functionality of the flow control valve.
When this valve gets stuck in the bore you will have the issues you are experiencing.

My hj does this sometimes, does not get worse, a bit of rev and it catches up, not worse with front lokka locker but it has to work more for sure,
17" wheels (and I think anything above is to big, also with 5 speed towing 3500 kilogram trailer)

If you want an manual choke cable: attach it to the throttle, I bought 303078463201 - Venhill Choke Cable
Attach to pedal and you have more rpm, also possible at engine I think. Just push in throttle, pull cable and twist to lock.

But gearbox reverse is best with lowest rpm (650) because synchro mesh wont like reverse gear change and higher rpm.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge... but when I Google Flow Control Valve for the 2H Power Steering I get this... EBAY PART But in the video 1.45mins this is completely different and is a sprung valve built into the pump itself.

Both are flow valves for the Power Steering?

The valve can be stuck in the bore or the spring is to weak/ worn out .
