Power door locks don't stay locked when the car is running.

I got in the truck today, hit the lock button & all of the locks locked, then popped open. If I push either of the fronts down it (and all the rest) pop open. When the motor is off all is well. I assume there is a brain that tells them all to open when the motor is turned off and it's the culprit. Am I right? Also I am installing an alarm with multiple channels & want to add remote lock/unlock & a solenoid for the tailgate. Any suggestions?

Gracias!

try closing the door, mine does the same, I think it is logic that aptempts to keep you from locking the keys in. you can lock youself inside with the keys but you cannot lock the door and then close it with the keys in the ignition.

Door lock and door switch/pin

Same thing happen to mine. PO stuff paper to make a better contact. Follow the above answer and clean or replace switches and all will be good. :)

I went around the truck and made 100% sure the doors are closed. Same thing. I also determined it occurs the second the key is in the ignition, before it is turned at all.

I am having the alignment done and will check all the switches and if that is not it will dive deeper. Is there a schematic I can get to help me? I ordered the fsm but am still waiting.

Thanks

There are schematics in the back of the FSM. However, the book with really great schematics is EWD189U. Well worth the money.

...

Where do I find the EWD189U?

I had a similar problem.

Try tapping the tumbler where the key goes into the ignition. Mine was sticking a little and still does once in awhile, once i tap it, all is well!

Thanks. I ordered one!

I used to occasionally have this problem.

I used to reset it by doing a random combination of locking and unlocking the doors via the remote, via the actual interior lock switch, and via the key in the exterior keyhole. Eventually it would go back to normal.

I'd forgotten about this happening, and it hasn't come back in 4 or 5 years, but at one point it was happening frequently.
