I found out that the trail is usually closed from Jan 1 to March 31.

I'm down, too. And yeah I think you are right about the trail closing until March 31st. We could probably turn it into an overnight. I think it would be a good little trip.

Agreed, sounds good!

I'm in unless something comes up.

My vehicle is good to go.

Edit: I just called the Ranger that was listed as a POC in the thread below. They're in the process of surveying the trails at the moment, but haven't opened them up yet. They said they'd get back to me (hopefully this afternoon) with an answer.

Just heard back from them. The trail will be open on the second. No restrictions (just follow posted signs/instructions).

I am out as my inlaws are coming to town. But maybe another weekend.

if any one needs anything or has problems shoot me a pm and I will give you my info. I have a trailer, tools, parts and access to a machine shop so anything can be fixed.

I found out a friend just died, wake friday night, funeral saturday so I can't make it.

Thanks, man.

Its not that I flaked out. I work in petersburg mon-fri and drive to roanoke friday night and back to petersburg sunday night. My wife is 4 1/2 months along with our first child and I have 10 weekends, less than 20days to finish my 1500sqft basement before my wife wont be able to travel home on weekends. And this just happens to be a weekend my inlaws could come and help with the basement so wheeling isn't on the top of my prioritys.

That wasn't directed at you or TCinVA. I kind of kept an eye on whose 'online' statuses were up the last few days before I made that post. Some of the others that picked the dates and said they were in had been online right up until I made that post (but decided to not even give a status update). TCinVA wasn't online the previous few days, so I figured something might be up with him.

You two at least had the courtesy to post up that you weren't going to be able to make it. I have family (two kids) and a job...I understand that "wheeling" isn't peoples number one priority.

Where I got pissed, is that as I pointed out...I need notice if I'm going to make a trip. For me to coordinate based on a weekend someone else picks and to then have that person not even update (when they've been online) is pretty flaky. It wasn't just me having to coordinate. My wife had to schedule her call (she works at a hospital) around the weekend that I wanted off (so that she could watch the kids). Yeah...my sob story, but something to think about next time people chime in that they're good to make an event, but failed to look at a map to see that it's a four hour drive (or whatever was up with the people that didn't say anything).

I hadn't run into that in my years online (people making plans and then just not saying anything at the last minute).

when you finish with your basement, come on up to Harrisonburg to finish mine. I also have lots of of other honey do things on my list.

I was in Ohio a few weeks ago for a conference and had to laugh as the notepad that they had in the hotel room. It is a Completed List, because that list is obviously shorter than the Things To Do List....and my wife would tell you that is 100% accurate.

As far as people flaking - I have tried to coordinate trips in the past and it seems like you are lucky if 75% of those who said they were coming actually show up.
