Hi everyone,

Looking at purchasing a 2014 LC 200 and spotted this while under the truck. I’m certainly no mechanic and was wondering if this might evidence of the dreaded cam tower leak? Looks like it has been dripping down onto the heat shielding around the exhuast.

Really sorry for the quality of the photos, wish I would've had more time to get some better ones before I had to get on the road - any guidance would be much appreciated!

That sure looks like the cam tower leak.
The valve cover gasket is just above it and it looks clean. Do you smell any burning oil when sniffing around the wheel wells?.

Thanks for the help on this one guys - ended up walking away from the sale - seller wasn't interested in getting it checked out by a mechanic.

School me. I don’t see any pink. What do you guys see?

Cam tower leak would be motor oil. Somewhat common on the tundra/sequoia 3URs, less so on 200s for whatever reason. Lots written about it online if you’re curious.

Yup. My bad .

I am in a similar situation. Tech assures me it is just the valve cover gasket... but it looks awfully suspicious. His poor picture quality doesn't help the matter. Any thoughts? Don't want to get burned on the purchase.
