My driver's side seat belt retractor seems to be really weak. in order to get the seat belt all the way back in I have to either pull on it from between the pillar and the hanger, or hold it up at a less acute angle to feed it into the hanger.

Is there a tensioner or something inside the pillar that can be tightened, or do I need to start looking for a replacement?

There are some threads on here about cleaning the seatbelt bracket with velcro, which sounds weird but actually does work for a while. I'd try that first, but not sure on your actual question.

Dig around the 80 section, I did a thread on cleaning it up. Clean the loop and wash the belt. Toyota evens makes a little kit that comes with a Velcro strip and some slippy tape you put on the loop.

A clothes dry sheet folded and rubbed through the bracket works too, and you'll smell good in the process!

I've searched both 80 and 100 forums and am not finding these threads. I am hoping for assistance with a LX450 driver's side seatbelt that will not retract. Thanks much!

You should also wash the belt with mild soap and warm water. Clamp the belt with it fully extended and let it dry.
