Portland, OR to SOCAL and back

I am headed down to Palm Desert in Southern California from Portland Oregon. I am probably taking a small aluminum trailer down there and back. It could hold an engine, axle or something of this nature if needed. I will be driving down I-5 pretty much the whole way and back. I could be persuaded to go along 101 from San Francisco to LA if need be. Gas money speaks loudly. Let me know, Boone
