I'm looking at these Shelter logic dome style garage and was curious if anyone here have any real life feedback on this brand or other brands with similar style of garages. I've been using one from Costco which has served me well but the winds at my house has destroyed the paneling and that style of structure moves a lot with the wind, which causes fatigue of the thin wall tubing.

I know that Shelter logic is China made but the design seems sound to me, after watching their install video.

The second reason why I want a dome style garage is because of the snow load. Once or twice a year we get heavy dumps and the dome style would fair better than the pitch style of roof.

If I had loads of money, this place probably has the highest quality product. Still, I'll ask for a quote for a 12' wide x 20' long and 8' tall dome garage.

Found this while searching: 15 Best Portable Garage Products To Buy In 2021 - https://storables.com/storage-ideas/portable-garage/

Thanks for your input.

As long as you understand it's temporary shelter and it has a self life...get one.

I bought a similar shelter many years ago.
First snow, it collapse and bent the poles. I replaced the bent pieces and the next thunderstorm it was in my neighbors yard leave many scrapes on the poor car that supposed to be protected.

Your theory of the domed version lasting longer in the snow, will only work for light snow that will not stick.
The heavy wet snow will stick and then the snow load problem becomes very real.
Ask if they have data on roof loading/snow loading and do a little cyphering your self.

Two years back, I installed an S Model steel arch building that has a rounded roof with vertical sidewalls and is available with 10 to 50 feet wide and 11 to 20 feet tall roofs with unlimited length. The sidewalls, like the P model arch building, allow for shelving and workbenches along the sides. With the clear span design, there are no beams or posts, giving you 100% interior usability. I liked it because of its unique arched design.

some time back I bought one of those canvas and tubing things from Costco. I did not secure it well enough and it blew off in a windstorm, damaging my truck in the process... that was my fault, not the product, but they are not the most secure type of shelter on their own due to the light weight and large area. Next time if any I will put in serious concrete footings but I'd still question the strength in serious winds.

Not what I need but good info for others. Thanks for the input.

Shelter Logic is in CT near me. Thinking about one too. The better heavier garages are made in CT. Go to the website and build your own.

That's good info, thanks. I may have to go with this brand as they have the heavy duty tarps for snow load. Price isn't bad.
