Any reason why not to . I've sandblasted but rims not that great of shape quit a bit of rust. Just figure this would be almost perfect . I've just not heard of any one using Por-15 on steelies.

Thanks

It turned out well on my axles and associated parts. I don't know why it wouldn't work. I don't think I would get any where the bead seats. It's pretty slick stuff when it cures. You will have to topcoat or it will turn gray with enough UV exposure.

thanks, atleast my question didn't fall completely thru the cracks. The main issue is back side of rims, just thought this would be perfect to stop and protect.

Thanks again

I can't imagine that you could just do the back side without the paint running through to the front. I used this stuff on my frame and misc parts as well. If you are using a black top coat, make sure you get the gray POR-15. Black on black is really hard to tell what and what has not been painted. Also, follow the instructions, in the POR-15 cures all the way, it is slick as sh*t and nothing will stick to it. If you have them sand blasted, I would just get the powder coated. I had mine done for around $250 seams like a lot but well worth it.

Thanks, thats more than I paid for them and I was'nt going for perfection. I've already Painted them and they look great, have used POR before and love this stuff. The main issue was the deep pitting/rust on the back which I did not blast all the way as my sandblaster needs to be updated/replaced (shaking container while blasting gets aggravating. Going to let sit for a few days before mounting.

Oh yeah, top coat rusto gray(dark) looks pretty close to stock to me.

Thanks
